I did, though in the end they settled before we were brought in. It was interesting.

I sat in a room with 100 other people on a really hard chair for 8 hours. Really boring. Never saw the inside of a courtroom.

Twice. Both times I went in for the orientation, then was assigned my jury group. Every week the scheduled trial was cancelled...never had to go back.

Twice. First time it was a high school class mate up on charges. Second time the arresting officer was my brother in law. Got sent home pretty fast.

My biggest fear is getting jury duty, which is why I don't vote.

(I voted once, when I was 18 in my hometown 400 miles away. But that's it.)

I don't vote because !) I only care about presidential elections, and Californians don't make a difference, and 2) if I vote then I will be called for jury duty.

I wouldn't mind going to jury duty.

But missing 1 day of work would require too much catching up. I'm employed but I work by myself and there's nobody to pick up the slack.

I did it after college. It was a whiplash case and a rich bitch lawyer was suing a poor lady. The jury didn't like the lawyer so we didn't award her much. It was a good experience and we took it seriously. It lasted about a week. Since then I've been summoned, but they never need us so we are dismissed in the waiting room area- never see the court room. If you are not suffering financially for not being at work then get the experience for yourself.
