    Wondering about the cost of living out there. Got a lead on my dream job but it pays less than what I'm making now.

    Better have a big stash of Euros. For example, when you rent an apartment, you'll have to buy a stove and refrigerator.



    Good luck getting a work visa.

    :whisper: They let you exchange dollars for euros, its not that tough. But buying a fridge, i dont even know where to begin with that. :facepalm:

    Then why'd you start the thread? To gather information.

    If you have a passport, you'll need to contact the Swiss consulate for a work visa. But it's October, so they may not have anymore for the year. I'm not sure how it works.

    And it's cold, cold, COLD in the wintertime. When were you planning on moving?

    Job starts in February. Housing is provided for the job but the pay is only 3500 francs a month. But with no housing costs that makes it a little better. It's not close to what I'm paid now but it's something I've dreamt of doing. Fuuuuuck

    Current job hurt, new opportunities help. This is fucking tough cause I only need 10 more years to get a sweet pension where I am now. I'd basically be starting over if I came back here.

    Well, that's about $3,900 a month gross. I'd make sure what "housing" covers: heat, electricity, water, etc...

    You'll still have to pay income tax on it.

    By the way, do you speak German, French, Italian and Romansh?
