So I'm about to pull the trigger on a pickup truck located in Colorado and I live in Ohio. Shipping is give or take $1000 depending on which company I go with. I had the truck inspected by a local hot rod shop so I'm pretty confident in the purchase itself.......just a little leery of shipping. Anybody ever do anything dumb like this before?

A one way ticket, gas, Mcdonalds, and a Comfort Inn for one night is cheaper than $1000.

Well, I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit, I don't fly. Say what you will.......I have a dangerous job, race cars and rode motorcycles like a loon for years but I don't like ladders and I'm crippled with fear as far as flying. That being said I love a good road trip but by the time I factor in hotels, gas and a rental car it's cheaper (or close enough) to ship.

I've had 2 cars shipped no problem.Make sure its a enclosed trailer if possible.I paid $1500 from south Texas 5 years ago when gas was cheap. That's not a bad price. What kind of truck is it?

I never did this but 1000 seems high. If you figure 50 cents a mile to get it back to Ohio, its probably cheaper to drive it.

Yes and 1000 seems steep. There are websites that you can get instant quotes from several competing shipping companies.

To go with an enclosed trailer is $500 more. I'm not that worried about a few chips/scratches. The truck isn't that expensive but to find a rust free somewhat low mile example around here would cost considerably more even factoring in the shipping. It's an '85 C10 4x4 (assuming I can close the deal). It'll be a great farm truck and winter vehicle plus something to treat as a toy......
