Just starting to think about having the basement finished, are the Owens Corning wall systems any good, I heard they are pretty pricey versus standard drywall? Anyone spray paint their ceiling vs. a drop ceiling (working with 7 ft ceilings so every inch counts)?

Thanks in advance and cheers mates:beer:

Pops and I did mine. I used the white foam board from Lowes then we want over it with the framing for the walls then insulation and drywall. The pink board is better but a lot more cost wise also.
We drywalled the ceiling also and did a diagram.showing where junction boxes were located in case there was any issue. If there is ever a leak or something we just tear it and re-drywall. The look is cleaner and clearance is better since we are at 7ft also down there. Its been 3+ years love the space no issues.

I did an old school lumber frame with a vapor barrier and rock....but my basement never gets a drop of water

That's the big issue...and moving pipes and wires if you want a full rock job

Helping a friend finish his basement now. Just finished the drop ceiling today.

Already sheet rocked and insulated the walls, put in some built in bookcases, shelves,
put in a new door to the walkout, etc

I don't have 50k put into my basement. I did renovate it though. Instead of drywall I used a bunch of rolls of wrapping paper and covered the cinder blocks and ceiling with it. Turned out pretty damn well in a birthday theme type of way. Oh, did use 6 mil vapor barrier too.
