Anyone have siblings in their 30's who bleed their parents dry of all their money.

I have 3 younger brothers who "Sell" Real Estate and use to work for my Dad's RE Brokerage Company who also owns a lot of commercial properties. The market is still in the tank so at the same they've run up 37,000 AMEX Credit Card bills on my Dad's account, but now my Dad's broke and they haven't made a payment. I have another brother that's early 30's that has two of my Dad's credit cards, one a Bank Debit card, and spends a 1,000 a month and lets my Dad pay the bill each month. He gave them his new cars, pays all of their insurance, food, everything. The 3 of them received over 100,000 from my Dad between 2010 and 2011, amongst a lot of other money throughout the last coupe years and now he's flat broke, he's terminally sick and too old to care anymore and they barely come around.

What would you do? By the way, he's been bed ridden with Pulmonary Hypertension and COPD for the last 2 months and I've been buying all his grocery's, making his meals, etc. and being with him everyday after work, for the last 2 years.

That sounds terrible. What a bunch of fuckers.

I can only imagine what this is like to go through since my parents realized their mistake and only had me.

The good news is that you kids will get to pay off that debt in the event of you father's death.

tell your dad to give you power of attorney, since you're taking card of him. then cut those freeloaders off. if he declines, wish him well, knowing that you tried your best.

This is good. Also see if you can close down those credit cards without your good for nothing siblings find out. How is amex still letting them us the card?? I hope your dad has a good will, cuz your sibs are gonna pick his bones dry, if/when he goes.

I cant imagine having family like that.

    That's sad.
My parents always asks my brother and I if we need anything.
My brother jokingly told them a new bike last summer.
He got it for his birthday a month later.
We are a close family no leeches

I'm sorry you have to deal with your siblings.
Time to talk to your dad about cutting the financial umbilical cord.

Evidently the dad feels obligated to pay.
Your probably right dad might not listen.

Its a sad situation to be in...

My mother-in-law lost her job. She only had limited local calling area service (think back to life in the 90s) because she couldn't pay the bill in full. We had an ATT card that wasn't the prepaid type; you were billed on the usage. My husband gave her the PIN code so she could call about job prospects, with explicit instruction that she was the only one to use it. One month later the bill was $2500. Apparently she let her unemployed daughter (in her 30s) borrow the access, and she promptly sat home all day BSing on the phone with all her friends Her response was, "Well, you have all the money; you can afford it."
