Just got their new album ...Like Clockwork and it's sounding like a masterpiece. Any fans out there?
I'm their biggest fan.
I can't wait to hear it. So far, what song do you like the best?
Dave Grohl is the drummer on this one, right?
Josh Homme's voice just gets better and better.
Grohl plays drums on more than half of the songs, I believe. Elton John does the piano work, and Trent Reznor lends his talents as well. I've listened to it twice while studying tonight and it appears than Homme nailed it. From the few listens I give it a 4.5/5 stars. Its that good.
QOTSA on David Letterman tonight.
Love em. When I heard they were making a new album I didn't think it'd be this good, really enjoyed it. I'd put it up there with Songs for the Deaf as one of their best albums.
Nope.....I'm still waiting for the new Led Zeppelin album.
Instead of being sarcastic and waiting for the album that will obviously never happen, if you like Zeppelin that much....you'd probably dig the Queens of the Stone Age if you gave them a chance. They're clearly influenced by the best of 70's rock and roll, LZ included.
That's high praise, although Lullabies to Paralyze is my absolute favorite. Now I really can't wait to hear it.
And fyi, Nine Inch Nails has a new album coming out, too.
You may not like it as much as Lullabies to Paralyze but you'll definitely enjoy it. it's a pretty heavy and personal album. favorite song off it is Kalopsia.
Never really liked NIN.
Only listened once so far, and, like telecaster said to me, it just gets better each time you listen.
So far, my favs are The Vampyre of Time and Memory and I Appear Missing, with the edge going to I Appear Missing.
I can hear the influence of Trent Reznor on Smooth Sailing.
Josh Homme's voice has aged very well. He's so expressive.
Dave Grohl is the best drummer.
Fuck yeah...I figured you'd dig this album, being a proper rock and roll fan...Smooth Sailing is an early favorite as well as Vampyre of Time...I've also put If I Had A Tail on repeat a few times....the whole thing is great, it's a crafted, solid album with every song being a winner...thank God there's still a handful of bands that actually give a shit about putting out a full album chock full of great songs...and you can't beat My God is the Sun...
That's pretty amazing considering that no one buys albums anymore.
I'm going to buy the CD just to support them.
Come on.....I'm just kidding with you.
There is a group I have been listening to; this new band called Rival Sons they fucking bring it.
Ever since the Mantra song that Homme, Reznor, and Grohl did, I've been hooked on Queens of the Stone Age. Never gave he/they a listen before, but since I heard that they collaborated on that song and this album I've been hooked on Queens. After doing some research about Homme, he sounds like he surrounds himself with talented guys on every album and just makes kick ass music. I love that. In a society where it is cookie cutter pop music, here is a guy who is constantly changing the line up and putting out some great stuff.
I thought that you were just fucking around...Rival Sons, huh? I'll give them a listen...thanks for the endorsement..Got to support the bands out there that carry the torch.
Watch this (its an hour with Anthony Bourdain, but its very telling about Homme and his craft, as well as his friends and local haunts):
Been listening all day.
My favorite episode on No Reservations, cuz I think Homme is a musical genius and I've spent a lot of time at the places they visit. Pappy & Harriets at Pioneertown is a great place to see live music. Looking forward to the QOTSA tour, tix went on sale last Saturday.
