On October 18th thru the 21st I am planning on going to Indianapolis for an NFDA convention.
its at the Indiana Convention center. Does anyone know the area?
where is a good place to stay? Is there anything kid friendly to do around the area or not too far off?
The website is suggesting the Conrad Indianapolis for attendees & affiliates, which is really close to the center.
The pictures look nice, but I couldn't find any good reviews.
    Any help is appreciated!
and howard related because his career has been put to rest. :)

Indianapolis is farther south. Gary is up here by us.

I go to Indianapolis a couple times a year for work and at least once for a family holiday in the fall. We have stayed at the Sheraton downtown but Conrad Hilton is probably good too.

Not THAT much to do but there are the regular chainy type places to eat and drink downtown. There is a pretty cool aquarium, your kids might like that. A little outside of downtown there is an indoor go-cart track that was pretty kick ass. Just north of the downtown area is an area called Broadripple which is more of a bar-after-bar layout and a lot of drunken folks which is enjoyable for me but I am an alcoholic. I think there's a comedy club there in Broadripple too as well as several live music (small band) venues.

Gary is like a half hour drive from Chicago; you're safe from that.

Saw the Stones there in the 80's. As if it weren't bad enough that there are so many reggies there, they also have a gay reggie section too. Order room service.

Checkout the War Memorial. If you are a war history buff the have a lot of cool stuff in there like a huey helicopter and some other military equipment I cannot remember. St Elmos steak house is really good. Fairly pricey but you will get your money's worth. Also, stay away from Broad Ripple. It is cool to see during the day but there is a lot of trash that shows up at night.

Just remembered, there is a great breakfast place called "City Cafe" - really good food and its actually right near the war memorial but i cant remember what direction its from there. The very center of the city is like a circle with radial streets coming out and i get fucked up with my directions. Just be ready to use your GPS.
