I have them. They called the wrong law enforcement agency a few months ago when the alarm went off. Called the city cops and should have called the troopers, luckily it was the cat and not a burglar. System works fine, slow adults at the controls not so much.

Disregard my slow adult comment, I'm sure your brother is normal.

I have used them for 6 months now. Dumped my ADT system

    Pros
    - No equipment cost
    - free installation
    - extremely easy interface, the iPad and iPhone apps are awesome, extremely easy to use.
    - Great peace of mind being able to lock or unlock your doors remotely, change the thermostat, turn on lights, pull up the camera feed on your tablet or phone, arm or disarm the alarm..etc
-you can set up your house the way you want, with more or less equipment, very flexible.
    - if you have kids, you can tell when they accessed the door locks (knowing when they come and go), no sneaking in or out. It's also great to know when they come home. All these notifications can be set up as "push"on any mobile device.
    -no home phone needed
-quick response on a tripped alarm
    -update equipment every 3 years

    Cons
-monthly fees, it's a little pricy. I added quite a few extras and my bill is roughly $120/month.
-Length of contract, 3 yrs minimum, they will set you up again if you move.

overall I am extremely happy with them. Best security system on the market. Their basic package runs $60 a month I believe.

i added extra cameras, motion detectors, glass breaks, remote door locks. And a extra panel.

That must be from their sales brochure, neither of those have happened for me yet and I've been with them for over 3 years.

My monthly is under $50.00 with 21 devices. It's an older system, no mobile notifications.

must be, the contract I signed said they would update to new equipment every renewal period.

Fast response was concerning Vivint through the panel, response time of the cops depends on your local pd.

Truth is I'd probably shoot myself or a loved one because I'd be shaking so badly.
