I want to get a couple single shares of stock (one as a gift and one for me). I have seen oneshare.com but they want a $39.00 certificate fee. Anyone know of a site that's cheaper for a single gift share?

Why buy it? Just google image the cert your looking for, go to Kinkos! Scottrade is the easiest online broker. Most online brokers no longer handle paper. The Market has gone paperless.

Remember Kinkos is open 24 hours a day incase it's 2 in the morning and you decide you need 2 of something.....Mitch Hedberg!!!

I've never bought stock before, I think of it as sort of gambling and I'm not a big gambler. I want it to hang on the wall and look pretty and I think it'd be cool to say to my jerkoff friends.. "hey I own part of that company".

Look at your local antique shop, or a collector/coin dealer. Or eBay!

I bought citi group at 88 cents, Siri at 21 cents.....shorted facebook! It's gambling no doubt! If a black guy like me can do it, anyone can! Lol!

    Peace and Love!

all firms are going to charge you a certificate fee. they don't like to have shares out, it hinders the ability to be able to short them.

Ehhh.. so I guess it'll cost almost $100 to get a stock certificate in a nice frame.

Does anyone know if I would get stockholder stuff mailed to me or dividend checks?

    Just open a Scottrade account.

It's cheap, easy to figure out. You can buy a bunch of penny stocks if you just want to be able to claim you are a shareholder.

You won't see dividends for a cheap stock, but you will own part of a company if that is what you are aiming for.

If you find a cheap stock you are interested in, make sure the 50 MA is not dipping, if the 3, 6, 18 day MAs are on the upswing, you might even make some spare change.

But don't expect to make any money unless you spend the effort learning how the market works and doing your due diligence for the stocks you want to buy.

I just want the paper certificate to hang on the wall. I was thinking about getting WWE and Sirius/XM.

Buy stock in Lisa G's or Blobin's book publishers. I am sure they are dirt cheap.
