Howard made a plea at the end of the Quentin interview to let them play Hateful Eight at the Arc Cinema or something like that? he pleaded to his "friend" Bob Iger to let him have that one theater???

any news on that? is that coming up this week? has it happened?

What a BS controversy. By most accounts behind the scenes, Tarantino's film never had an agreement and back in October Arclight was promoting Star Wars in that theater for the entire month.

The news is Star Wars is the biggest movie on the planet and Tarantino is shit out of luck.

Star Wars will still be in all the same theaters though New Year's Day so once again Wigman A Stern is blowing it out his ass.

That was never going to change, the tickets were probably already sold, and sold out.

You know i saw Star trek 4 in the Cinerama Dome back in the 80s and it was a great experience. But a few years back the wife and I went to see something there and it was sort of meh. Its a great theater and a hollywood landmark but frankly its not even one of Arclight Cinema's best houses. I think Tarentino just wants it there out of nostalgia. FYI Cinerama was the IMAX of the 50's

"I know JJ Abrams personally, Quentin. As soon as JJ hears about this little mix up, he'll make a phone call and do the right thing."

You're right. That's exactly what it is. Quentin confirmed that's the reason why. Simply because of its historical significance, not because it's a technological marvel.

The bottom line is that theaters are gonna make a shitload more money with Star Wars than they will Hateful 8. The former is a PG-13 rated movie with a thousand product tie-ins that's a huge mass-market film that will easily make $2 billion; Tarantino's movie is a niche R-rated "artsy" film that's extremely violent, 3 hours long, and caters to a much narrower market. It's all about business.

Note that even Tarantino's own theater, the New Beverly Cinema (near the corner of Beverly & LaBrea in West LA) is not showing his film.
