anyone noticed that Howard is pointing out all the listeners since the lawsuit?

1st he started with how many ugly apps HE sold for these people. Today he's pointing out how many hits he can throw to a website just by mentioning it.

If this isn't a huge fuck you to Sirius in a, "Look at how much business you will lose if you take me off the air", I don't know what the fuck it is.

He also uses the Google "Hot Trends" feature to point out that he still has massive influence. Howard seems to think that something showing up on that list means 30 million people, all listeners of his, are suddenly searching for the name of his last guest, but that's not how it works.

Astute observation, Howie is preaching to the choir though. No one in Sirius/XM management gives a shit about his impact. He might as well shut the fuck up about it, at least he would look like a man and not a whiny bitch. Take your medicine Howie, you lost, suck it up and act like a man.

Howard sounds like a jilted, blithering bitch. :bigcry:

...i think its sounds more like howard is losing his grip on reality. even if 30k people went to a website because of howard 25k of them heard it for free and besides that the facebook video went viral so plenty of people were past it before howard latched onto it and used it for 2 days to fill airtime on his vacant show and reputation. hes like captain queeg rolling marbles around in his hand.

When he was really popular he didn't have to say these things, now he is trying to convince himself and his dwindling audience that he's still popular. He's like a little yappy dog that has no power but to bark when a bigger dog is behind a fence.

I wonder if Howie is crediting himself for the 4+ Million Apps sold PRIOR to being mentioned on the Show
    :dontknow:

    December 6th, 2011
Developer Dapper Gentlemen says he’s grinning over the controversy spurred by its Ugly Meter iPhone app which cyber-bullying experts have deemed as ‘hurtful’.

Unlike other developers who play it safe whenever their software falls under Apple’s radar (and you can bet this one already has), Dapper Gentlemen feels confident that its Ugly Meter app will live on.

It has over 3 million downloads to date “and shows no sign of slowing down,” reads their announcement.

...i know people were already aware of the ugly app before howard had the guy on and someone posted about the fb jackin off video here in the bar iirc. it was probably howard reading over in the bar he saw the fb thing posted. many of these stories are available on the web before howard "discovers" them. the king of all media is a pissant next to the power of the internet.

Dead on everyone. When he brought back the ugly app guy I thought it was odd. When he said he'll be on SFRT again tonight I started thinking he was another family member, like his cousin with beesuticles. When he brought on jack off bandit and pointed out all the hits he's generated it all came together as to what he was up to.

The other thing is, he acts like he's the only place these people are promoting, the app guy was probably doing a round of promo appearances when he first came on, so Howie's listeners were lumped in with thousands that heard about it on other shows. Howie tries to make it seem like everything is his exclusive, like the Gaga interview, he failed to mention that she was on six other radio shows that week including one that she said was her long time favorite.

Eh, I hear Howard discuss these things and to me it sounds desperate rather than funny or interesting.

If I were Sirius, I would be laughing at Stern's best attempts to say "FU" to them

In terms of popular culture, Howard has almost zero impact. His demographic skews strongly to men aged 40-60 at this point. That's not a desirable demographic unless you're trying to sell viagra.

A young man, age 24, would have been 18 when Howard left terrestrial. He would have been 9 years old when Private Parts came out. What are the chances that a kid that age is at all interested in Stern? Does Stern talk about things that interest young men in their 20s? Does he have anyone on his staff or on-air in that age bracket? Is he in-tune with youth culture?

All Howard has left is his "brand." His name is still fairly synonymous with controversy and blue-humor to non-listeners. That's why Sirius still has him on--because they can use his brand as a selling point for their service. His show, regardless of the quality, is besides the point.

Howard was brought over to satellite to have an impact in a few areas. First, the move generated tons of publicity for Sirius. Second, it gave them a quick influx of subscribers. Finally, it allowed them to capitalize on his brand.

Howard still brings in publicity for Sirius occasionally, which is why they don't seem to mind him promoting AGT. He no longer brings in a single subscriber. Everybody who wanted to follow Stern to satellite did so in 2005-2006. Nobody was so hyped up about Howard from 2007-present that they went out and purchased Sirius (an kept it) solely for his show. That's just ridiculous.

Great post, but come on, haven't you seen what a snazzy youthful dresser he is? :)

    And that youthful mane...

Howard is a smart guy, but it's becoming more and more difficult to ascribe purpose to his rants. In the past, his ranting and raving was very calculated and effective at getting him what he wanted. The last time I can recall when his rants had *some* impact were when he was pushing the merger. Besides just ranting about it on-air, he also had Arlen Spectre (fellow Jew), Jim Cramer (Jew), and--I believe--Neil Cavuto (Goy) to push for the merger. We know now that Howard was going to get a big payout for pushing the issue...which is fine.

However, Howard's more recent rants reveal, at a minimum, a gross misunderstanding or disconnectedness with reality. Example, his bizarro rants about "SIM cards" during his last contract negotiations. That made him sound like an out of touch old man. I'm sure you guys can think of a number of other examples--but you get the point.

I'm left wondering if Howard is just getting old and naturally more out of touch, or if it is something more. Sure, he lives in a cocoon surrounded by sycophants, but earlier in his career he was able to brush that off and follow his own playbook successfully. One clue might be the fact that he now generally only takes scripted callers (e.g. Bobo); this might point to either a lack of desire to deal with criticism and/or his inability to do so. Whereas the former might merely reflect a laziness on his part, the latter would indicate some type of degradation of his reasoning and social skills.

I love to see Howard like this. He's so desperately trying to save face. He's gotten so much bad press from this lawsuit lately and it's killing him. He has spun the whole lawsuit ruling so now he is claiming he didn't get a trial because people think he is greedy and think he already has enough money. He's throwing everything out there and hoping something will stick. It's great to see him flail around like this.

It's not "fine" to have pushed so much for the merger when he made it very clear (that is, lied) that there was NOTHING in it for him but that he merely thought it would be good for the company. He fucking lied his ass off to his fans and the justice department, as his latest failed lawsuit makes crystal clear.

Howard wasn't the only douchebag to promote this piece of shit.....Howard's claim that he, and only he, is responsible for the sales of this garbage is laughable...
