I almost went last night. Now I'm reading that it may be the worst super hero movie of all time. It has 9% on Rotten Tomatoes. That makes Green Lantern sound like an epic. I may have to pass on this one.
No, but I've talked to friends who have. The first two thirds are apparently pretty good, but then they do "one year later" and it's just a big dumb fight with no stakes. The director said he turned in a much longer cut that would have made the ending fight more logical and interesting, but the execs cut it to shit. Anyway. It seems like the Fantastic Four would be the easiest license to turn into a great super hero movie, and this is 3 goddamned times that Fox has fucked it up.
It seems the older the comic the more they have problems with making a good modern movie from the source material. Look at how many times they tried to make Batman.
But there have been a few legitimately good Batman movies at least. And the Avengers movies plus the various solo films Marvel made have all been great. If they had the rights and they could make their own FF movie, they'd do it right.
Oh, guaranteed. DC is currently fucked with these movies. I thought Man of Steel was garbage, and now they're basing a whole series of movies on THAT?
I wonder: when the new blaek Johnny Storm lights up, do 7 NYC cops put him in a headlock and tackle him to the ground for being a loosie?
Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Marvel nerd. You cant have a Marvel Universe without the Fantastic Four. But they are the O.G Marvel superhero book. Which makes them the oldest.
I hope he doesn't have any pockets in his uniform. They'd probably shoot him if he looks like he's reaching for a gun.
Can I rant? Marvel made Iron Man. They picked one classic hero and made a really fun, great-looking movie with a strong cast, and everyone loved it. Then they took their time introducing heroes in solo films, so by the time the first Avengers happened, each member was someone we were already familiar with and it was exciting to see them all together. DC shat out Man of Steel, and since then they've announced Batman vs Superman, which is going to include Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Cyborg, so we'll have the Justice League formed at the end. Then they announced a Justice League movie. A Batman movie, starring and directed by Ben Affleck. A Wonder Woman movie. An Aquaman movie. A Flash movie, which will star a different actor than the TV Flash. Suicide Squad. Green Lantern Corps. Maybe even more -- I can't remember. How about making one good goddamned movie first? Everything Marvel has announced sounds good, because they've made a bunch of great movies already. Black Panther. Doctor Strange. More Cap and Thor and Avengers. A second Guardians of the Galaxy. Spider-Man (done RIGHT).
You left out the best movies of them all. X-men. Every movie based on them has been pretty much a home run. But I do agree with you. I have never seen any DC movie that I really loved. Batman has gotten close. The damn Gotham tv show is about the best thing they've done.
haven't really had an interest to see any of these movies in the theater this summer will probably wait until i can download them
