I Need a travel router and the reviews on Amazon are useless. Every unit has bad reviews and good reviews. I just want to be able to go wireless from a wired connection. I'd like to plug in storage that I can access from all of my devices. Streaming to iOS devices would be a plus.

    Anyone out there using one?

Sorry, I've only used a WiFi hotspot while on travel.

yep, because usually where I want Wi-Fi is where I get shitty cell service and those damn hotspots work off cell service as well

I have one. A little 1.5" square one by Hoo Too. Got it off of eBay. Works great. I set the thing up with the same name and password as my home network and signing on is effortless. network

I could but I don't want to pay if I go over my limit. The hotel data connection is free and very fast. I think they limit usage by kicking you off several times a day. It's a real pain.

I think you can connect to the wifi with your phone, then use the phone as a hotspot?

You're still relying on the hotel's often spotty wifi signal strength

With the Hoo Too you create your own local wifi

I'm kind of stuck at this hotel for a while. It's not really a hotel, it's more like a conference center and I'm working on a project here. I'm just trying to make the best of the situation. The internet is really good but I'm pretty sure they dump you off the wifi several times a day just to get rid of people that are logged in but not using it. The place is huge and they have to have some way to manage it. Plus the wifi has a login and password which is a pain. When I'm in my room, I'm going to connect to the wired ethernet with the router. it will be nice to have wifi to my tablets and pcs without having to login. I just got 70 megs down and 50 up on my wired connection. That's better than I get at home.
