Didn't see a thread about this... so thought I'd ask..

Just watched parts 1 and 2 (of 6) of HBO's Jinx: The Life and Death of Robert Durst.

    http://www.thejinxhbo.com/

The oldest son of New York real estate entrepreneur, Seymour Durst, Robert Durst grew up in Scarsdale, New York. He married Kathleen McCormack in 1973, and after she went missing in 1982, Durst has been considered a suspect. Further suspicion was raised with the unsolved 2000 killing of his confidante, Susan Berman, thought to be a key witness in the investigation into Kathie's disappearance, as well as the subsequent killing and dismemberment of a neighbor in Galveston, Texas. Durst has consistently maintained his innocence and remains a free man today.

Anyone else watching? Part 1 talks about his life and subsequent capture in Galveston... part 2 talks about his marriage to Kathleen and her disappearance.

So far, I think it's really good - but I have to say he is one odd and creepy MF'er. Thought some of you New Yorker's might know more about him...

This site gave some part 2 and 3 updates/spoilers... plus how they think he made people believe the wife came into NYC the night of her death. http://www.vulture.com/2015/02/the-jinx-episode-2-poor-little-rich-boy.html

I watched the first episode last weekend while I was drunk, so I don't remember much. I've got the 2nd episode queued up to watch this weekend.

After you watch Ep 2... click on that vulture link above for a spoiler. I was stumped about something on the night of the wife's disappearance - Vulture gives out a spoiler to think about for Ep 3.

Yes, that's the movie. Durst must have loved Ryan Gosling playing him (I didn't put the two together myself at first)

It is unbelievable and fascinating. This guy is a cold-hearted monster. Have you taken a good look at his eyes? They're lifeless, like shiny, black marbles. Only saw episode 2 and I never read or heard anything about this guy before, but it does seem as though he got away with murders.
The show itself is very well done, beautifully filmed, and reinacted.

Agreed - Those eyes are so creepy at times. With all the oddity, I don't know how wife #1 stayed with him for 7 years.

Looking forward to part 3 this weekend...

There was a time when most of the cable shows I watched were on HBO. Nowadays, all I watch there is Game of Thrones and occasionally the Bryant Gumble Sports show.

The detective in part 2 is pissing me off.
So dismissive of her friends who clearly knew that POS was responsible. It seems like he wanted to just say she up and ran away from her entire life.

    Robert Durst
    Arrested for Murder
'The Jinx' May Have Jinxed Him

Robert Durst -- the man suspected in 3 murders -- may have let his thirst for the spotlight get the better of him, because he's been arrested for a murder profiled on "The Jinx", the show chronicling his crazy life.

Durst was nabbed in New Orleans Saturday for allegedly murdering his friend, Susan Berman. Authorities believe he killed Berman because she knew something about the mysterious death of his wife Kathleen, who disappeared in 1982.

Susan was murdered in 2000. Two days after her death LAPD cops received a letter from someone telling them where Susan's body could be found. Cops now say they've linked the letter to Durst.

The case went cold, but the LAPD reopened it after the HBO show, "The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst," began airing. Durst participated in the show, and there was an air that he got away with something.

Durst has been this route before. He was tried for the murder of a Texas neighbor in 2001, but he was acquitted after claiming self-defense. He claimed he shot the neighbor in the forehead because he was threatening him. Durst cut the body apart and dumped it in a bay. The body parts were retrieved in bags, but the head was never found.

Durst's lawyer says he will not fight extradition and will fight the most recent charges.

I've been binge watching this all night. Truth is indeed stranger than fiction. The fucker is like a cat with nine lives. Got lucky that no one searched that lake house for his wife. Seems a rather likely place to dump her body to me.

What really got me is that jury in Galveston acquitting him of murder and that lunatic juror who thinks Durst was unfairly being hounded for all these murders. He thought he was the unluckiest guy on earth. :jj: what a putz.

The luck the filmmakers got by finding that letter is just crazy. Then they got lucky again that Durst got arrested for approaching his brother's house and needed them to talk to his lawyers. That gave them the leverage to get him to sit with them that last time. It took a ton of balls to confront him with the handwriting evidence. I don't think I could have done it.
