Big Stephen King fan, and for most of the last decade everything he has written has been absolute shit. When I read Under the Dome I was amazed because he really hasn't written anything this good since It or Talisman. The story also hit me as something that would adapt well like Stand By Me or Shawshank because of the basic realism to the story that most of his books lack. The show has sort of diverted away from the book but it really has made its own niche. I am not sure that a second season is a great idea, you can only stretch the story so far before it gets old and I am thinking adding 13 more hours is too much.

The previews looked silly and, given previous adaptions of King's works, I thought passing on it was a wise move.

The end of the book sucked. Reminded me of the end of Men In Black.

compared to the first 90% of the book I did find the ending a let down, but the build up and journey until they went up the hill was great.

Bailed after the first episode, there is some dreadful acting in that show.

I read the book and have been watching the show. To say the show has sort of diverted away from the book is like saying shit sandwich is a little different than prime rib. The show is way different. I think King ran out of steam when he wrote the last 100 or so pages. There would have been much more satisfying ways for Big Jim to die.

I like the show, even though the acting is terrible. The girl playing Norrie is a fucking mutant with that forehead. She would do great in a conehead revival. The girl playing Angie is possibly the worst actress I've ever seen.

I too don't know what they are going to do with it in a second season. Each episode seems to be a day long so I guess we get at least 3 1/2 weeks. If they are going to loop back and have the cause of the dome the same as in the book, I don't see how they'll do it. I'll still probably watch now that I have this much time invested.
