Now Howard is claiming his terrestrial radio ratings were probably half of what they really were because of the radio diaries (the way the calculate ratings in radio) way of recording and people were embarrassed to admit they were listening to him. He also said some people who listened to him hated him but listened anyway but wouldn't give him credit.

What about lemming fans like Marianne or Bobo who would most likely record in their diaries that they listened to Howard even if they weren't even listening to the radio at a given time or day? And the diaries are anonymous. Why would people be embarrassed to claim they listened to him?

When will his bullshit end? His terrestrial ratings at least until the last few years were ratings anyone would kill for. He was always #1 in NY. Why not just live with the true ratings and not have to over inflate those anymore. He should be spending more effort lying about his abysmal current ratings.

Don't forget there were probably 2-7 people listening to every radio!

This was a very interesting topic for the show. Maybe in the new year the sxm will start to take a hard look at ratings. Not that it will have much affect on the show but if sxm is buying the ratings they could be published.

How do you continue to listen to that shit? I switched on for a few minutes today and he was discussing how attractive he found Rob Zombie then did the same bit about Scott the Engineer and his DJ business he did 100's of times 20 years ago. Ponderous bullshit.

I'm sure it still gets to him that he was never more than an afterthought in Chicago.

He actually lost NYC on and off starting at the end of 2002, a show named The Buck Wild show or something similar beat him as did Goombah Johnnie's show and a third show I can't remember

Edit: The first show to beat him was Star and Buc Wild at Hot 97

    http://radio.about.com/od/legendarytalkshowhosts/p/Star-Buc-Wild.htm

Claim to Fame: While at Hot 97, they became the first New York radio show to beat Howard Stern in a decade.

All those people carpooling into NYC, plus if someone played a radio on the LIRR you can count a whole train car's worth, Robin

    Howard gonna sue someone?

Funny how he goes from knowing EVERYTHING about ratings to not knowing he was bumped to a shit day of the week by Letterman.
Thank god Gary and Hein were there to explain television to him.....:jj:

    Lets keep it real
Howard is the greatest liar that ever lived.

I got a neilson radio ratings book for a couple of moths. It just showed up in my mailbox and contained $2 cash (which I used as bus fare to get to work that day:hat:) as payment for filling it out. I did fill it out and sent it but it was kind of hard because I grew up on Boston stations and hadn't become familiar with the stations in NY where I had moved to. I got the same (small) booklet and $2 again a few weeks later and I sent it in again. Then they sent me this whole giant fucking assignment of shit to rate; like businesses, tv, music, radio. I think they promised to bump up the cash but whatever it was wasn't worth the time and headache so I threw that shit out and never sent anything back after that. They mailed stuff a couple more times but I never responded. I don't know who has the time or interest to fill out all that stuff.

He actually claimed that Mexicans stole his ratings in LA. He said that some Spanish station had "just about the exact same" call letters and/or were right next to Stern's station on the dial, and when nobody was looking they pocketed some most of his ratings.
