Sirius cannot sustain itself for 3 - 5 more years.

To conquer Sirius all anyone has to do is to air new programming 8 hours a day for 5 consecutive days. There are kids with Public Band walkie talkies that can conquer Sirius.

I cannot Howard on iTunes making a damn dime. Sirius makes sense to truck drivers and folks who just want to "tune in" to catch a show or listen to something. Having to navigate the store to buy individual shows just isn't a business model. Face it: Howard needs to "cross over" to TV or it's over. My guess: the current iteration of Howard is the last one we will have to put up with, absent a few guest appearances here and there. He is 60; his brand of entertainment is dated by about 20 years; and he never was telegenic, so it's over Johnny.

Apple has zero to do with Sirius, nor do they even see Sirius as a competitor. Sirius is a dinosaur - trying desperately to lay the groundwork for their swan song: using their transmissions for things like traffic data.

That said, NPR has had an app on iOS and Android that does this same thing (and more) for a very long time. Why is this news? Fuck stock analysts - bunch of parasitic retards - all of them.

Satellite is becoming more and more irrelevant and unnecessary. I rarely listen to HSS and rarely listen to any of the other channels too. They all sound like shit anyway.

Exactly. And it's so compressed or whatever that the sound quality is putrid.

from god's mouth to your ear...err, i mean from your mouth to god's ear.
let's hope howard is over, that he will sink into oblivion. i can't imaging any media outlet investing a cent to get howard, so i think he'll be remembered as one of 4 judges on a summer replacement gong show and not as the man who revolutionized radio. i know i would never spend a cent to hear or see howard, i have sirius so i can listen to o&a an various other political talk shows.

Did Howard buy the rights to his shows from CBS/Viacom or did Sirius? That is the question. We all know the Pelican never fronts his won cash.

Does Howard own his Sirius shows, or just the Intellectual Property that was broadcast, like with CBS/Viacom? Remember when he was just going to re do bits, before the purchase of his old broadcasts? Homo-Cop I think they re did.

Sirius/XM only exists due to their deal with auto manufacturers. If the car makers go in another direction they are dead.

When they make internet entertainment as easy as flipping on the switch and changing "channels", (they probably already have this somewhere) then it is a viable alternative. Having to download podcasts or pull a feed is too much work for a casual listener. I like the Pandora approach with channels, just have a service with the channels for the various radio shows/genres via the internet all available w/o having to hunt shows down. I might feel like "tuning in" on a whim to Adam Carolla or O&A, but I'm not going to have their shit show up on my computer every day or have to go get a separate subscription for it and futz around with their player. I canceled one financial/economy podcast because it was a hassle to listen to. I do download assorted programs but only the ones I have a compelling interest in hearing, making it worth the effort. This shock jock shit? Nah.

The ultimate whizz on his long time "fans" would be for Howard to somehow find some way to "hit" in the mainstream with his watered down PC "amazing" new self and become popular with the reality TV/AGT/Bachelor fans. Thankfully that is unlikely to happen.
