I've never been to an Apple store. Are these just cashiers? Because that is not an unheard of annual income for a person who scans things and puts them in a bag.

The New York Times spent 4 months working on that article, which notes that the average Apple Store employee -- who appears to be smart and college-educated earns $11.25 an hour.

As a result of that article, some employees are going to get a raise.

According to the article, the company earns $473,000 per Apple Store employee, which they said is about the same as a typical consulting firm. I don't know what a consulting firm is, but it sounds like a lot of rich fucks who earn a lot more than 25 Gs a year.

It was the result of the public demanding that Apple employees in China get parity with the American employees. Apple always gives the people what they want so they cut the US workers pay to match the Chinese

That's a total joke compared to Home Depot where employees participate in profit sharing.

Also this. They are paying the market rate for the position. I don't know that Apple is really at fault here. Higher wages for service positions blah blah blah... Inflation as a result blah blah blah....

Register monkeys don't even deserve that. In another decade or two human cashiers will just be a quaint reminder of the old days.

"By the standards of retailing, Apple offers above average pay -- well above the minimum wage of $7.25 and better than the Gap, though slightly less than Lululemon, the yoga and athletic apparel chain, where sales staff earn about $12 an hour. The company also offers very good benefits for a retailer, including health care, 401(k) contributions and the chance to buy company stock, as well as Apple products, at a discount. "

So the LOWEST paid employees (yknow? those dough-eyed college kids under 22 that have to point you to a real employee if you need to know more than "whats an iPad?") makes better than average mall rate. The rest start at $30k/year with access to tech the rest of us pay out the nose for. Compared to my own employment (4 year college degree/some grad school/two languages/10 years with the same fortune 500 company), not only do I not feel bad for them, Im kind of envious.
