Way to demonstrate that whole "life of poverty," Bishop!

Summary: Bishop lives in the life of luxury while some of his Church members don't know where their next meal is coming from.

More hypocrisy from the Church! :yay:

"What we didn't stop to consider, and that oversight rests with me and me alone, was that the world and the Church have changed," Gregory wrote Monday in the archdiocesan newspaper.

no, what you didn't stop to consider is that the rest of the country has the internet now and can talk to each other faster than you can talk to god. people find out what you are planning to do and spend long before you sign a contract, rather than after the work begins as in decades before. you can't hide extravagances as easily anymore.

I think the Church hates the Internet more than Howard Stern. :jj:

    1 Timothy 6:10 (NIV)

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Who cares? At least a mansion will, generally, appreciate. The church owns vineyards, mansions, massive cathedrals, art, gold, securities - nearly every other kind of asset available.

I'm cool, as long as my donations aren't being used to hide a pedo priest or promote teachings contrary to Church doctrine.

If there were a god, that bishop would be zapped to hell. Just one more example of the fact there is no god. So much dirty shit done by so many in places and positions that should be "holy". The only thing "holy" is the money and power they can extract from the sheep..... Have a happy day! :)

Why are they amassing huge real estate portfolios when their most vulnerable members languish in abject poverty, disease and war zones?

Back when the pedo priest scandal was first starting, people would follow accused priests and post photos and logs of their daily activity on several websites and message boards. I'm sure those priests were cursing the Interwebs!

For the same reason anyone invests. It isn't the Church's primary mission to feed the hungry or give freebies.

Super, so you pray at a church that is no more than a self interested business?

No, it's to procure and retain as many members as possible...to get their money...to invest in real estate.

    Got it.

It's the conversion of sinners. The other stuff is nice, but it's not the primary reason the Church is here.

The best way to convert sinners, is by sinning? <br>

The Church can defend itself - or not. The reality is, she has FAR more to answer for than a mansion or 2.
