    Hey Fags.

The WWE announced a streaming service for 10 bucks a month.

You get all the PPV's, plus the entire WWF/WWE 30 year library of nonsense, and they are going to make all kinds of original programming.

    All wrestling, all the time.

    It's the future. :grad:

The importance to us non-fags, is that this is going to be the future of programming that will allow us to leave the cable companies behind.

Ala carte is the future, but if let's say every channel went this route it could get pretty expensive fast and you'd have a lot less than the 100 or so(largely useless) channels a typical cable or satellite package at ~100 a month gives you. I guess in other words, if you're going to pay 100 a month for 10 channels at 10 bucks a month of stuff you like(action movies, ESPN, um, porn?), are you getting as good a deal as 100 channels at 100 a month filled with shit you largely ignore?

you need a niche that has A LOT of content new and from its catalog, like WWE. It won't work for everything

The UFC needs to copy this like now. Like the WWE they own all of the old material from the various promotions of Strikeforce, Pride, WEC to pick and choose from. Other sports leagues ditto, minus stupid blackout rules. Include some new programming material and shows and ...profit?

As I stated when I brought this up a month ago, WWE cutting out In Demand is what probably makes this economically viable for them. And the fact that they have bought almost every library of the top wrestling companies over the years. WCW, World Class, AWA, Florida Championship. They have more content in the can than a person could watch in 2 lifetimes.

Also, their cable deal is up soon. With the outrageous prices paid for sports content, they are figuring to almost quadruple their revenue, from $100 something million to their goal of $450million, same price paid for NASCAR. Now would be the time to jump on their stock.

re ala carte: Even cable providers can't pick and choose the channels they carry. The huge corps package them up. They want ESPN, they gotta take a handful of shit channels ABC/Disney owns.

i wonder whats stopping hbo or showtime from doing something like this and leaving cable all together. i know espn wont ever do it because the revenues streams through cable are so high but premium channels?
