i thought this Abe was pretty right wing, maybe this is his first step into re militarizing Japan..

The US Navy has already turned it's focus to the Pacific, but I did not expect this.

Now. Now, it's all under control. I mean, Obongo's the smartest man in the world. Quite possibly, the smartest man who ever lived.

    Um, except for maybe this....

South China Sea island-building 'may undermine peace' - Asean

Southeast Asian leaders have said land reclamation projects in the South China Sea risk undermining regional peace.
The leaders' statement comes at the end of a regional summit but a draft was widely reported on Monday.
Though it does not mention China, it comes after satellite images showed extensive Chinese building in disputed parts of the sea.
China claims almost the whole of the South China Sea, resulting in overlapping claims with its neighbours.
Those countries whose claims overlap China accuse it of illegally taking land to create artificial islands with facilities that could potentially be for military use.
China - which is not in Asean but is a major trading partner of many members - says its work is legal and needed to safeguard its sovereignty.

They are taking the handcuffs off Japan's military to help form an Asian version of NATO.
I think the Japanese translation is the 'Super Best Friends' club.

read some story a few months back
Japan has a very powerful navy
according to some high ranking member of the us navy it's second only to ours
and it's the only one that's as advanced as ours-can co-train together very easily or some shit

so I read that story a few months back

Unfortunately, progressives still need to put a woman into the White House to feel truly proud of themselves.

I live close to one of the bases here in Yokohama, and there are planes flying above my house day and night. They're really loud and the noise freaks out my dog. So for purely selfish reasons, I would support the decision to pull US forces out of Japan. And as an American, seriously, why are we still supporting them? They can stand on their own two feet by now.

Was it just me, or did Abe and Merkel wink at each other at the last G-7 meeting? Like they have unfinished business or something.

It's about time. The military should be here at home fixing bridges and solving real mysteries.
