    As Reagan once famously asked...

Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago?

    In a word, no.

Was out of work for a year 6 years ago. Once I got a job, it was for less money. Wife runs her own business that is marginally profitable and we don't live well within our means.

It could be worse: besides a mortgage and some lines of credit, the debt isn't terrible (at least we don't have credit card debt). But it is definitely higher than it was 8 years ago.

    Thanks Obama ;)

No. 2008 saw my investments fucking plummet, my lease income reduced, my crazy ex-wife unable to pay child support... it got real ugly there for a while and has never recovered. Freelance market isn't what it once was, less money and fewer clients.

absolutely. but living in seattle, which is one of the better economies certainly helps move things along.

i also pay cash for nearly everything, so debt is not a big issue.

ski in winter, boat all summer. take sunday drives in an old alfa and make my own beer. wife is a earner at amazon and in school for comp. science.

    life is very okay.

...well since the house was burning down and bush caused it and just sat there and watched the clock before he could go home id say yes we're all better off cause it could have been a lot worse. new bubble getting ready to burst so i hope a lot of people kept their helmets from the last ride.
