LIVE UPDATES: Fort Lee issues ‘all clear’ after incident

FORT LEE, Va. — Fort Lee, an Army post in Central Virginia, was on lockdown Monday morning after reports of an active shooter.

“Active shooter incident reported at CASCOM HQ, Bldg. 5020,” states a tweet sent out from the post around 9:30 a.m. “All personnel enact active shooter protocols immediately.”

Around 9:50 a.m., CBS 6 News senior reporter Wayne Covil reported that an intercom on the base sounded stating that the situation “was over” and giving an “all clear.”

“An all clear has been issued by the Fort Lee installation operations center at 9:50 a.m.,” the post tweeted. “The law enforcement event is over.”

Fort Lee is a census-designated place in Prince George County.

CNN reports the blasts heard were actually the sounds of Benji Bronk's jokes bombing.

14 years in the army. Who knows what was on her mind or the amount of combat she saw. Thank god for people like her who protect the country so we can have fun in the shed and sllep well at night. R.I.P. sargent:rip:

    Combat?
Seeing as 40% of US military personnel never deploy to a combat zone ( serving on bases elsewhere during their careers, as we have extensive "commitments" ), even during the wars of the past decade-plus, and women in the US army were not permitted in direct combat roles till about 1.5 years ago, most of all modern armies are "tail" (support) not "teeth" (combat) units, and even if in a combat zone where danger definitely exists even for support units, one may not see action, I'd say that it's far more likely she was pissed off about something unrelated to her service overseas.

For perspective, in 2012 alone the pentagon claims 26,000 women in service were sexually assaulted, with about 4,000 actually reported, and about 400 rapes. About 10 a year died in Iraq and Afghanistan, with maybe under 100 wounded.

    Unhappy people exist everywhere.
