II had to fly down to Orlando today for a conference. I have a free day tomorrow and don't want to do Disney. Any suggestions where I might go and not have to fend off small children and strollers?
I have a free pass to universal studios Thursday night, so that should be fun.
    I appreciate the input.

There's a touristy Margaritaville next to Universal Studios / Adventure Island.

Winter Park area around Park ave. is nice. Downtown Orlando has some decent bars, clubs, venues. Like the man said there is a place you have to walk through to get to Universal studios called City Walk and it has the Margritaville and like a Latin part and some other cool stuff. Hamburger Mary's is in Downtown Orlando on Church st. I think, it has good food and it does drags shows. The Parliament House is a gay bar of local renown (never been). If you are big into beer check out World of Beer. Have fun

Epcot is fun. Ripley's is fun - but the same as San Francisco and Key West - for the most part.

Other than that. Shit. Good luck. Orlando is way too fucking touristy to be any fun.

I just got back from Orlando yesterday. Avoid driving to Downtown Disney at night. They are doing road works and the parking situation is a total cluster-fuck.

I had a Sunday to "kill" in Orlando between a sales meeting and a trade show one year. Everyone brings their clubs, but I could give two shits for golfing. I found this guy online, packed my bow instead of my clubs and had a total blast. It's less than a two hour drive from Orlando. It's certainly not for everyone, but it's a lot of fun if it's something you ever thought you wanted to try.

Not a terrible idea. I found Cocoa a little Florida sleazy when I went there. A lot of travelers don't want to drive far, may not have a car even. But if I headed that direction I might go watch the cruise ships come and go at the harbor there.

Other than theme parks and the on-site hotels, there's not a lot I'd recommend.

I might go to Downtown Disney, park free, and catch the bus to hop around the Disney Hotels if one has never been to them. Catch the boats at the Ticket Transportation center/Polynesian resport and cruise around the lake, maybe. Or even rent a small speedboat (water mouse)

Same could be done at Universal hotels, I suppose. During a nice day at the parks all the hotels will be ghost towns.
