Reporters who clearly have no understanding of SXM and how it works with Howard Stern.
This article is a plant by Don Buchwald.
As much as SiriusXM is a good fit for Howard, the company may actually need him more than he does them. Stern is the undisputed king of radio, and of the entire SiriusXM programming slate. No radio personality has ever come close to amassing the rabid audience following or commanding the huge salary that Stern has. Many of Stern's millions of fans subscribe to SiriusXM specifically because of him. It would be a huge blow to SiriusXM to lose Howard, a unique and irreplaceable radio titan.
This is the fake story.
obviously a Buchwald plant
Notice how the "reporter" treats the $$$ aspect of the negotiations as almost a trivial thing but didn't frame it the other way, and write "if Howard just lowers his demands a wee bit..........".
he'll have to stay, no one else wants him.
They keep writting about Howard as if it were still the early '90s. He hasn't commanded a rabid audience of fans for nearly two decades.
Whoever listens to the show now is a fucking moron.
Watch him re-sign for another five years, but only for 2 days a week and $60M a year. And he'll claim they didn't cut his pay -- which technically might be correct if you look at the "per show" pay rate.
The recent return to Sirius offers I've been getting don't mention Wiggy.
Don't think he's part of their marketing plan.
Since the merger, the quality of Sirius's shows have declined so far that Wiggy and Robin's unfunny borefest would probably be a good fit. But I doubt that Sirius has any incentive to pay Wiggy -- whose audience consists of Horse and her kittens -- much more than they pay the more entertaining Jay Thomas.
Sayanora King of all Kittens.
They'd be crazy to pay him anything near that. I hope they dint sign him at all.
Anyone think buchwald is putting these articles out there to give Howard and easy explanation and that there are no contract negotiations at all?
They wanted me to stay, Robin. But I know what I'm worth and can get it elsewhere.
And just like that, never to be heard from again.
