Artie responded to John's vile, drunken stupidity earlier in the week (Artie was busting his balls about John liking Larry the Cable Guy, so John brought up the stabbing/bleach incident, and Artie's dad falling off a roof).

Artie wasn't angry, which made it all the more lethal, imo. Artie just casually mentioned that John was always a scumbag, pointed out the reasons why, and he also got in some nice shots at the people who are still on the Stern show. None by name, but it isn't too hard to figure out.

He also pulled back the curtain on the Stern show a wee bit. Nothing major, but it's still interesting.

    It's well worth a listen.

Maybe I need to relisten to the episode, I missed the dig at the stern show and which bit?
I thought it was good, but sj definitely got under Arties skin. Artie stopped the show after John wouldn't stop asking about the suicide...

My goal in life is to one day have enough time to worry about dumb shit like this.

I fear it will never happen.

You missed the whole bit about what a toxic work environment it was on the Stern show, with people still trying to stab him (no pun intended) in the back after he got the gig, and the veiled swipes he took at the people who are still there, who were/are delusional enough to believe they could sit in that chair?

Also, you've misread/mischaracterized the situation. Artie didn't stop the podcast because John was getting under his skin. If John was getting under Artie's skin, Artie would have unleashed on John; thrown something at him, wished AIDS on his kids, or simply kicked him out of his condo. Artie stopped the podcast because John was being unfunny, obnoxious, and inappropriate, when the rest of the room was light, having fun, and busting balls.

Artie would have stopped the podcast had John been asking those types of questions to Tammy, Russ, Dan, or anybody else.

If anything, Artie, and the rest of the room, was knocked off balance by John's questions, because they were jarringly inappropriate and retarded.

What if Artie had asked "Did it hurt, John, when your daughter got her tits sliced off? Do you feel that makes you a horrible father? Is that why you drink 20 beers a day? Talk to me; I'm worried about you!"? The fact that Artie didn't go there proves, imo, that John wasn't getting under his skin.

Artie was getting under John's skin just by busting his balls about defending Larry the Cable Guy; he didn't need to bring up the darkest, most fucked up episodes in John's life to do it, although he certainly could have after John went there.

Artie was just toying with John. John couldn't take it, made a horrible mistake, then doubled and tripled down on that mistake.

It's also worth mentioning that John, after the episode, asked (Artie's producer) Dan to cut out the "stab/bleach/roof" bits, because by then, even he realized it made him look like a complete asshole.

His rant about bob levy on the wrap up show years ago - "the dripping jizz stained computer web" etc. should have been fair warning. Artie can destroy fundamentally and poetically
