Artie keeps telling the same stories over and over. Doesn't he realize we hear the Dad throwing him on the field story weekly?

Artie repeats all his material over and over and over, including written jokes. He's lazy and short on ideas. He ran through all his stories pretty quickly on the Stern show. If he didn't have his addiction saga, he'd have been used up way before he was. Still, I loved him on the show and his giant fatass was a major pillar holding it up and it came crashing down when he was removed.

Artie is a shitty stand-up, a shitty actor, a shitty writer, a shitty performer, a shitty host or even co-host, but was great at sitting in on a show and jumping in when he had something good. He needed the laid-back nature of that gig to shine. The gigs where he has to force material to keep it going aren't a good fit.

Somewhere around episode 175, Artie addressed this complaint. He said that listeners should take the approach that they are like friends hanging with Artie in his living room, in that some friends will hear stories more than once, especially if a new friend comes over and asks a question related to a story.

I think some of it, though, is an FU to the people who complain when he skips a day. He figures he will just do jibberish and fulfill his obligation.

In his first month of podcasting, he use to respond to voicemails. Maybe he should do that to fill time. It is better than hearing the same stories over and over.

Adam Carolla does the same thing. He has a few dozen stories he regularly repeats and when people give him shit about it, he explains that new listeners may not have heard them. Which makes sense (though I see it as an excuse for having a finite amount of set talking points and an inability to craft new thoughts).

HOWEVER.. Adam's show is free; Artie's show is behind a paywall and if you're a big enough Artie that you're willing to pay to hear him talk, odds are you've heard all those stories before.

I guess the other side of the argument is if you love Artie enough to pay to hear him talk, you're probably okay with hearing the same stories over and over again..

Carolla may repeat stories BUT he bounces them off different people. He recently was ranting about Amazon on his regular podcast. Then he did it with Dr. Drew, too, on that podcast. Or it could be some comedian in studio.

But Artie seems to be repeating these stories just as filler, with Falato laughing nervously. Frickin' battered wife syndrome.

Artie actually repeated the same joke/story about Rich Vos not being able to get into the mafia or comedy in back to back episodes last week.
