    that adam carolla was offered the jackie chair job before him. I thought that was interesting..
    and another tid bit...the first time he met carolla was at the screen test for dirty work. The producers had seen artie's "sizzle reel" from madtv and contacted his manager.

    I think this is well known. Carolla was doing a tryout for a few weeks, and I think it's Adam who said no. He wasn't moving to New York.

    Howard did offer Carolla a show on 101, but Carolla didn't want to work for plugs.

    Howard charged comedians for the "privilege" to sit in the Jackie chair for a few days. Howard and the gang actually talked about it on the show. I heard it while listening to one of Todd Packer's compilations on YouTube.

    From what Carolla said, Howard/Sabean offered him very little money and when Adam pointed it out, Sabean said "There is no money in the budget". And Carolla said "Well, call me when there is money in the budget."

    I always respect Carolla for that move. He considers Howard a radio legend and has never said a mean thing about him - especially the current state of the show - but he had the cajones to tell Howard, politely, to go fuck himself.

    This was to be on Howard's channels at Sirius. The offer to fill the Jackie chair was a good 8-10 years prior.

    Didn't know about that, good move on his part.

    I'm listening to some of the 2006 shows and it's ridiculous how little they were willing to pay for talent development on the channels. When they discovered Riley they talked about what a goldmine he was and sometimes almost 25% of the show was dedicated to him in some way. Sure, the fucker was crazy, but without his craziness they wouldn't have that material, throw him a bone. Yah cheap jew bastid.

    It's hard to listen to some of the old Sirius shows knowing that Howard was dangling a paying gig with a show on the channels to all those people donating their time to create content and Howard never had the intention of coming through. A con job through and through.

    Yeah and Riley wasn't dumb, he knew he was being taken for a ride but in the end it was more important to him to be heard than paid. Poor guy.
