revisiting this today, probably the best non-Howard fight on the show in the past 15 years...

Sal really played dirty in the fight.

I was surprised that Richard Christy was talking shit about Artie. The only time I hated Richard

I don't have time at this moment to re-listen, but I remember Sal coming off like he thought his ascension in the Stern world made him a peer with Artie, and therefore room to criticize "Beer League." Does that sound about right?

Whenever Richard behaves outside of his happy-go-lucky hillbilly persona, it sounds weird. I too thought he was above getting involved in this.

"who would care if you died"

Richard is married, lost weight and has kept it off
Robin is a spinster with no real friends and is fat

yeah...there is no such thing as karma

To be honest: That is Artie at his worst. Artie is a shit-head when he was high on drugs.

Howard should have forced Artie to a drug test and rehab after throwing a CD at Sal.

And I hate the argument: I make more money = I am better.

Richard is non-existent on the show. Who gives a shit about his personal life?? So yes, who would care if he dies

I love Artie but he was being a complete asshole right there. He goes off talking shit about their job all the time and then when they tell him they don't like it he says they are editing him. And when Sal says something he doesn't like he starts throwing things at him. Artie would never say Fred is doing a bad job or Robin is a shitty news anchor but when it comes to Sal and Richard they should expect it?

I felt sorry for Sal and Richard, you can clearly see how Howard can effect everyone's opinions just by taking one side.

The only thing which derails Artie's whole argument is the throwing of the stuff--so childish.

But I remember hearing this for the first time and thinking to myself--Sal really is an incredibly dumb human being. Artie was dead-on when he called them out on being pussies and not having the balls to come up to him and explain their problems with him immediately after they arose. On the wrap-up show Artie explains how the real problem was when he pointed out that every one of their phoney phone calls had something to do with "interrupting" and then Howard goofed on them. That's when they should have talked to Artie or else sucked it up.

I have not been able to re-visit this my self. Since Artie left and tried to kil him self, it rather depresses me to watch any of his fights. I just recently would actually watch even the peaceful segments with Artie on HowardTV. I actually cared about the guy and it hits a nerve when I see him like this. I remember when he was at his worse I just wanted to give him a big hug and be his friend.
