In looking around at different large bikes, I've seen more than one comment about Goldwings being frowned upon in the motorcycling community. What gives?

My guess is that it means you're a pilot and you're on the wrong vehicle.

they're really nice bikes. comfortable, luxurious, loaded with amenities, and associated with old people and uncoolness. plus they weigh a ton.

Many tough guy biker types rag on anything that isn't a Harley. I've owned three HD's but always appreciated other makes.....a Ducati will be my next. I didn't care for the feel of Goldwings but that was just a personal preference......good power, smooth and reliable. I was never one for the loaded bikes so I never compared options and/or pricing.

this is the newest model: the breakout. the biggest difference in the price ranges is the paint colors available. even so i like what they did with it. great lines and everything flows.

Goldwings are too big to lane split comfortably.

In my experience the people with the most to say don't even ride, or they are complete assholes anyway

I just want to get a bike for some local running around and blasts down the country roads. I'd like to build something but for the price of a used Ducati 998 I'd be hard pressed to justify the time and cash outlay of a build.

I've never cared for BMW aesthetics but they are killer bikes. I'd get a Triumph speed triple if the right Ducati wasn't available.

Who am I kidding......I still have some work to do on my hillbilly farm truck before getting another toy. DRATS!

    Harley riders:
"This beer is flat, let's trash the place."
    Goldwing drivers:
"This cappuccino is cold. Let's only tip 10%."

    This.

If you want a nice touring bike that will be bulletproof. And weighs 200 lbs LESS than a Goldwing.
