Rodney was awesome, they just don't make comedians like they used to.

Rodney was probably the funniest guy ever. Henny Youngman was great too. His classic joke:"Did ya hear about the Polish rapist? During the police lineup when the lady walked in he yelled 'That's her'!

I wonder how many of these jokes were Jackie's debt repayments? :giggle:

Rodney is one of the few comics from that period whose material stands up so well over time. He was incredible, should always be in the discussion for best standup of all time. And even though I really thought Carson's show wasn't that great he jump started the careers of many dozens of stand up comics during his time. Even in this interview he played a perfect straight man to Rodney and played along and made it believable that they were just having a conversation. Carson was a generous man to help comics get their start, and Rodney was definitely a very generous man in that way, too.

Isn't that weird? Burt Reynolds actually was very good.
    Why?

Anyone here born before Anson Williams (Potsie of Happy Days fame) hosted The Tonight Show as a fill-in for Johnny Carson?
One night only -never happened again.

I was a regular Carson viewer (young'uns won't understand how terrific and funny that show was) and don't remember that! Maybe they'll rerun it. I'm hoping they add "Odd Couple" reruns soon -- that was one of the best TV shows ever!!

One of my favorite memories is actually sitting in Johnny's chair when I was visiting LA -- had a friend who worked for NBC. What a rush!!! Met lots of celebs in that building -- almost fainted when Jack Klugman said hello to me as if he knew me. Too bad it was decades before smartphone cameras :(

whoah, what? Press release? Is it full, uncut episodes from the 90 minute era? Are they running chronologically? Are they already available on DVD or Amazon Prime?

Hopefully they can acquire the old Late Night show, too.

Channel 465 on Fios here in Jersey. ME TV used to show the Odd Couple every Friday night at 10:00 and 10:30. I would dvr them to watch whenever we wanted to. It hasn't been on in a while though, don't know why.
