So I'm scratching my head trying to figure out why my account is short a grand. I get my bank statement, and it turns out my bank paid a $2000 check as $3000.

I call them, and they say, "Yes, we did make a mistake. You're correct."

So I ask how they plan to return the money and they say, "We don't recover the money, that's up to you to do."

    WTF???!!!

So they're washing their hands of it. Oops....sorry we cost you a thousand dollars. Tough break.

I went to my bank the other day and I passed a woman on her way out and she told me the system was down and they weren't letting anyone make withdrawals.
I was only making a straight deposit, so I figured it wouldn't be a problem. I get on line, go up to the window and hand the teller my deposit slip and cash.
She tells me the system is down, so she can't take my cash. I ask her if she can just take the deposit and give me a written slip and then put it in the system when it came back online.
She looked at me like I asked her to use her money to make the deposit and I'd pay her back later. She was completely dumbfounded and said there was no way they could do that. Gotta love banks.

I recommend street justice -- go in there with your hand in your pocket, and demand they give you $1,000.00

Which bank is this? If they admit the error is theirs, then it's their responsibility to recover the additional funds. Someone at the bank wants their error to go unnoticed by the boss.

That fucking sucks man. I hope it was some dumb teller you spoke to because you should speak to the branch manager about this.
I'd demand $2,000 after all of this bullshit. Switch banks bro.

Dats some bullshit right there. If a Branch Manager doesn't give you any satisfaction try

    http://www.helpwithmybank.gov/

"Who Regulates Banks, Savings and Loans and Credit Unions

If the offending bank has the word “National” in their name, consumers may file a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Most state banks are regulated by the Federal Reserve Board. For banks not regulated by the Federal Reserve Board, complaints can be filed with the FDIC."
