    Trevor HOFfman

I seen this headline--it's pretty lame
but yeah he'll get in--I assume I suppose

Fred McGriff should be in---this is questionable in reality--but I always liked him

Man...Fred McGriff was a bad ass back in the 90s. He is by far the most overlooked player of his day. He never had any of the swirling drama about roids and always did a great job for his team. He should absolutely be in. I fear, though, that with him being short of 500 HR by 7 doesn't do him any favors. He's - to me - still more of a bad ass than Jim Rice who somehow got in with his 382 HR.

I'm looking for them to announce Griffey Jr. on Wednesday and that's it. I still think Piazza, Bagwell, and Hoffman fall short. And on the Hoffman thing...they won't elect a reliever of that caliber until Mariano gets in. THEN Hoffman gets it. It sucks how these voters work, but I'm predicting him getting dicked over until 42 arrives.

he's gonna be left out based on those 7 HR's alone I figure
a career .280 hitter with 1500+rbi and 500 hr that never did juice is an instant in (right?)
    it's a shame really

Only one I see going in is Ken Griffey Jr. Hoffman won't get in this time around. Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds both deserve it in my opinion. Juice or no juice, these were greats.

Griffey is a lock. Doubt Hoffmann gets in on the first ballot. He'll get in, just be surprised if he's a first ballot entry. Trammell should've been in a long time ago. Won't get in.

Agree on Bonds being in. Major asshole, but he was a HOF'er before he juiced. Not sure on Clemens. His longevity was probably due to juicing. His stats wouldn't have been as impressive if he'd flamed out earlier like most power pitchers do. Torn on him. I never thought McGwire should be in. Completely one dimensional. He's Dave Kingman on juice.

Now that Biggio is in, you could make a case for Jeff Kent. Very similar numbers.

Personally, I'd throw 1/3 of the existing HOFers out. It's the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of the Very Good. Looking at you, Gary Carter.

Biggio had the "magic" 3000 hits. Plus very high on the all time doubles list. Agree on the standards lowering.

The problem with that argument is it basically boils down to, "I didn't have to cheat to get into the Hall of Fame, but I cheated anyway."

You really want to reward that way of doing things?
