    :hat:

I used to be all about the Precision, because of the humbuckers and I think it is overall a better looking guitar. But I have recently been more appreciative of the Jazz bass for some reason.....:dontknow:

Is the difference really just the pickups? I love guitars, but I don't know much about basses...

I've just never been a fan of single coil pickups, but you live and learn, I guess..:pimp:

I had one of these freaks at one time, CF Martin (crazy right?), but I just couldn't get into the bass thing and ended up trading it...

Jesus, is that some kind of collector's item? I don't claim to be cutting edge or anything but I didn't know Martin made any electric instruments. Their acoustic guitars are gold.

It gets weirder: There was also a solid body electric that was a twin to that thing. I think it was a 70's experiment that didn't work out too well. When I got it (mid 80's) it was a red-headed step-child in a podunk pawn shop, and it was cheap so I was all WTF? I wish I'd kept it, but I don't know how collectible it is:dontknow: Seemed like a well made instrument, but I'm not a real bass player.

The newer P basses are missing some of the depth of the older and more costly ones, also I am not all too impressed by this whole new fender american standard line either. I have a rickenbacker 4003 and love it, best bass I have ever owned.

As for the jazz bass, I really do not have much to say about them as I have not tinkered with one long enough to have an opinion.

I have a Gretsch Thunder Jet, but don't play it much. Prefer a six string.

Thanks, it was mine as well, then my friend at Sam Ash called and said they had one in, midnight blue too (the color I wanted) so I had no choice but to realize the dream.

I have a Gretsch Electromatic 6 string, nice guitar, a little heavy and weak on the lower end, but nothing that changing some settings on my amp along with a few effects cannot overcome. Definitely a fun guitar.
