Actor Benicio Del Toro Has Emerged As The Frontrunner To Tackle The Role Of The Villain In The Next Star Wars Franchise Sequel.

Producers at Disney have already made an offer to the Traffic star to feature in Star Wars: Episode VIII, although multiple reports suggest negotiations are still in the early stages.

Joaquin Phoenix has also met with Disney executives for the part, according to Variety.com.

Rian Johnson will direct the next instalment of the sci-fi film series, the follow-up to J.J. Abrams' highly-anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, which will open in cinemas in December (15).

New franchise stars Oscar Isaac, John Boyega and Daisy Ridley are expected to return for Episode VIII, alongside original Star Wars icons Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill.

"Benicio, my Robin would love to date you"

A cringe worthy moment if there ever was one.

I thought Howard had talks with JJ Abrams and some other people about getting this part?

He'll by some sheer luck get a villian role in comic book movie and then he will waste countless camera days arguing with producers and directors that he should be allowed to change the script to make the villain seem more tolerate of fat women, LGBT and be nice to children and animals and also advocate eating healthy and practicing a lot.
"Robin they hired me to be a villain, but I said why does the villain have to be the bad guy"
"Robin, I am the most beloved villain. Kids come up to me on the street and say I was the nicest villain."

    Love that guy.

He needs to be in more movies.

Love actors that do not need to speak to own a role. In Way of the Gun he has lots of unspoken scenes that are stellar.

I've only seen the original Star Wars (IV, I guess).

I need to go back and watch V and VI.

Someone told me not to bother with I, II and III.

If Howard looses any more weight he could double as a
    light saber.

"Haha, wouldn't it be funny if we cast Howard Stern as the Scarecrow?"

    Two years later.

"Howard, you were actually considered for the role as Scarecrow."
