For generic I like Mr and Mrs T's

but for a hardier mix, Zing Zang is a great go-to

For something a little out of the way, the Smirnoff mix is really good, although hard to find. Only one store near me has it.

And I recently ran across a V-8 bloody mary mix. REALLY good. It's tastes like you scratch made your own with V-8.

Of course Clamato is the bomb but not exactly a bloody mary. Would be interesting if they made a true bloody mary mix.

All of the others I tried are fine, but not stand-outs. I've also made my own, but it never finds quite the exact balance. Some ingredient is always a little heavy.

Just pour vodka in a can of Hunt's tomato juice, stir with a Jack Link Squatch Snack Stick (Hot), delightful.

From an old GQ article referring to Perry's in SFO. I've made it and it's a good recipe:

...if you happen to find yourself in San Fransisco, where the world's best Bloody Mary lurks in a saloon on union street, tucked between Pacific Heights and the Marina. Paul Mc Manus works the bar on weekends. He has for sixteen years. He make an estimated seventy-five to one hundred bloodies every morning -- by hand. No commercial mixes and no premade house mixes. Prop your head up at the corner stool and watch: He throws several ice cubes into a squat glass and adds one shake of regular salt., followed by three or four dashes of black pepper. Then five or six, maybe seven, dashes of celery salt, one good dash of Tabasco and an equal dash of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce. A generous measure -- let's call it two shots -- of vodka topped with about four ounces of Sacramento brand tomato juice. Finally, he administers a practiced stir, just enough to swirl the Worcestershire prettily, and garnishes with a lemon wedge.

There are a few secrets here. The Sacramento tomato juice is first rate. It's good, thick, real tomato juice. And the celery salt is shaken with a heavy hand. (Celery salt is also one of the key ingredients to Chicago hot dogs by the way. If I were you, I'd put in a serious supply.) The lemon wedge is important -- that's why places where the waitresses honey always serve a lemon wedge with tomato juice -- but the ubiquitous horseradish and celery stick aren't; you can do without them. One other secret: You don't need fancy vodkas for Bloody Marys. Perry uses Wolfschmidt, but any good well brand is fine. If you think you're going to taste triple-distilled $35 stuff under all those condiments, you've left it in four-wheel drive too long, sport.

This is a great but hard to find mix. It's made in Lyle, Wa. (middle of fucking nowhere) in an old school bus.

One good dash of Tabasco isn't going to cut it. I prefer more spice. Never seen Sacramento tomato juice at the many grocery stores I frequent in Los Angeles. Smart & Final sells their First Street brand of 64 oz. bottles for $2. But that's not a national retailer. So I recommend Campbell's. Freshly grated horseradish and celery stalk are elements that add depth to the overall flavor of the drink. I imagine adding the spices before the vodka/juice would make it more difficult to combine in the drink. Even with a practiced stir, that stuff would mostly remain at the bottom, no?
Fill a pint glass with ice
    Add vodka (2 oz.?)
    Fill with tomato juice.
    7 dashes of Tabasco (1 T.?)
One healthy dash of Worcestershire (1 t.?)
    4 dashes of celery salt (1/4 t.?)
    Fresh ground pepper (1/4 t.?)
    Fresh grated horseradish (1/2 t.?)
    Stir well
    Add celery stalk and enjoy

Clamato is great if you make your own. It's called a Bloody Caesar. I think it's the National cocktail of Canada.

Yeah, Canadians love Clamato (and ginger ale -- not mixed though...). They always ask for it on my flights, and when we go to Canada I always ask the caterers for a couple of cans, as we don't get it on US flights.

But it would still be cool if they made an actual bloody mary mix. Like V8 recently did.

I had the best Bloody Mary at this little breakfast place in Myrtle Beach, called LuLu's. They infuse the vodka with olives, garlic, peppers and spices, in this huge glass dispenser. It was the tits!

Empty out a jar of Pace Hot Thick 'N Chunky, fill with vodka, stir with organic celery stalk.
