Biden's son discharged from Navy after testing positive for cocaine

"I deeply regret and am embarrassed that my actions led to my administrative discharge." Hunter Biden told CNN on Thursday.
first reported by the Wall Street Journalon Thursday. He confirmed the report in a statement to CNN.

"It was the honor of my life to serve in the U.S. Navy, and I deeply regret and am embarrassed that my actions led to my administrative discharge. I respect the Navy's decision. With the love and support of my family, I'm moving forward," he said.

Biden was commissioned as an ensign in May 2013 and assigned as a public affairs officer in a Norfolk, Virginia-based reserve unit. A month later, he tested positive for cocaine, and he was discharged in February, according to the report.

The U.S. official said the Navy never had contact with the vice president's office over the issue, and that standard procedure for failed drug tests is administrative discharge. The vice president's office didn't comment on the report.

Hunter Biden is the younger of Biden's two sons. His older brother, Beau Biden, is Delaware's attorney general and a major in the Delaware Army National Guard. He was deployed for a year in Iraq.

CNN's Barbara Starr and Jim Acosta contributed to this report.

i was wondering that myself. i'll bet it had to do with him probably wanting to run for office soon and that would look good on the old resume. voters are such suckers.

Either that or Hunter joined the Navy because he is just a patriot dedicated to keeping America safe. Now that he's been booted out of the Navy, he can spend more time on his gig with the Ukrainian energy company.

"In May, he joined the board of the Ukrainian gas producer, Burisma Holdings Ltd., which is controlled by a former security and energy official for Ukraine’s ousted former president. The announcement that Mr. Biden would be responsible for Burisma’s legal unit raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest, because his father, the vice president, was engaged in diplomatic efforts involving Ukraine."

Blow doesn't stay in your system very long. He must have done it the night before the test or in between.

he probably did it on his way in the bathroom.

He was a reservist, so this happened on the Unit Training Assembly weekend. You have to be a real idiot to fail one of those drug tests. Guys I knew that imbibed, skipped a weekend they had dirty pee.

I was an AF Reservist. I never imbibed, because I'm a good boy. It's a good thing they never had a fat girl test though....would have failed one of those...

It's considered a plus for a career in politics. Especially if your opponent didn't serve. That way you can call him a "chickenhawk". Thankfully we have brave men such as Mr. Biden to provide us protective public relations work.

I thought the same thing. He either has a major coke problem, which is probably the case. who at that age with three kids is still doing blow? Or, he thought daddy being the VP would make it go away.
    Thanks Obama.
