as someone who listened every fucking day from 87 through 96. i don't recall much of a mention of his exit

He was always more or less part time, never in for a full week from what I recall. It would have been so great if they'd paid him what he was worth, but I guess he was destined for greater things.

    Such a pity.

Howard addresses Billy's departure in one of his history specials. He didn't say much, but he did address it briefly.

When I 1st began receiving tapes of the HSS it was during the Billy West years.
It was months before I could tell the difference between Jackie's laugh and Billy doing the Jackie laugh.

It was always pretty clear to me -- when it was funny, it was Billy. When it was plodding and sad, it was Jackie.

i can remember howard scolding billy when he would ad-lib . i can clearly remember howard telling billy "just stick with what jackie gives you" but in the end it was all very funny because howard made it funny

i bought a whole bunch of billy west on stern cd's off ebay about 10 years ago. too bad we don't have a files section here

Tom wanted Billy to sign an indemnification waiver stating that K-ROCK wouldn't be held responsible for anything he said. He told them to fuck off and rightly so.

That's why Howard follows up anything he says on Sirius about a specific celebrity or person by "in my opinion" or "just joking." He doesn't want to open himself up to any lawsuits if he says something like "Tom Cruise is gay."

    "Just joking."

I wish he would joke about something! But they don't have a budget for jokes any more...

    Ponderous.
