Dick Van Dyke Show
I Love Lucy
I don't like it!!!
'Merica used to be all pastel colors, who knew.
the human torch colorized
Meh, I saw most of these shows multiple times in syndication when I was a kid. So much good new TV now. I don't consider colorization to be blasphemy, however it is not an incentive for me to revisit that old stuff.
Fuck colorization, and fuck Ted Turner.
Let's get a few things straight.
First, it's "The Addams Family", not "Adam's Family".
Second, the first and fourth photos of The Honeymooners are not from the Classic 39 of 1955-56. They are stills from "The Honeymooners" segment of "The Jackie Gleason Show", a musical-comedy-variety show which aired in color in the late 1960's. I remember seeing some of those shows. Alice and Trixie were played by different actresses, there were dream sequences and musical numbers. Very odd. The shot with Ralph and the others sitting at a table listening to the radio is not from any Classic 39 episode that I can remember.
Third, color TV may not have been popular in the 1950s (although it did exist) but color film was. Many of the photos you provided are "publicity stills", photos produced by the studios to be released to the print media of the time to promote the various programs. They might not have been colorized at all - they were shot using color film.
Looking at Lucy's hair,I wonder if she colorized her bush also
The Adams family cast still stands up to today's beauty standards
How did Herman Munster become gray instead of green?
The show WAS in color for at least half of its run, and Herman had green skin.
He FINALLY stopped colorizing Old Flicks...
Carolyn Jones was a cupcake in B&W and is in color
Addams Family rocked!
She died in 1983 at age 50. Cancer. What a shame.
I remember wishing it would be in color.
There was a place on Times Square when i was a kid where you could get that colored film you put on the screen to make it look like it was in color. lol the good old days, Great Job L.T. as always.
Good knowledge Pete, but you might want to lighten up just a touch!
I think the first time I saw colorizing was about 20 years ago. It looks weird and fake. Not many people liked it
