I had the WUS on in the background this afternoon, and while discussing tipping, Gary humble-bragged that the last place he lived in the city was the same builing as Limbaugh and McCauley Culkin. I don't know anything about NYC apartment buildings, but I was really stunned by this. I know Gary is well paid (overpaid IMHO), but I didn't think he made enough to live in an elite building on the upper east side.
Big Apple shedders - any thoughts?

I don't think Rush spent that much time in NYC, so maybe he didn't have the level of apartment he would have if that was his main residence?

Before moving to FLA, NYC was his home base. His main residence and studio were there.

Yeah, that's what I think, too. I figured that the really elite buildings would be pretty expensive just to get in at the ground level, though.

I actually caught that segment. The first time I have listened to the WUS in six months and the first time I listened to The Stern Show in about two months.

Gary also humble bragged that he spent $800 a year to tip the building staff at Christmas. And the he claimed that Robin gave $3000 one year to her building staff.

I believe he said, "if you live in the city, your life revolves around tipping." What a douche.

Rush is a cat lover in real life (no kidding). He'll probably make some big donation to Beth's charity and he and Howard will become best friends .

Its a New York thing. Union doormen make $40k plus for opening your door and helping you with packages and they want Christmas tips. If you upped their salary to $45K they would still want tips.

You cant have a "double penthouse" - the penthouse is a single top floor apt.

Howard bought 1 condo (bachelor pad) then bought another one (with Beth) so he could have a 2 floor apt of 8000sf overlooking central park.

Aka a double penthouse. A 'duplex' penthouse, if you prefer. Get with the program.

Howard sounded really stupid when he was complaining about delis and pizza places that have tip jars. He said something like, "just raise the prices and get rid of the tip jar." As if that money would go to the employees.

Howard doesn't live on the top floor of his building thus his apt isn't a penthouse.
