I ordered a stove through homedepot.com because the store said they don't stock them. Stove showed up yesterday. I was very unhappy to find out that though it's advertised as self cleaning, it's actually what they call aquaclean. Which requires that I clean it. It's convection, but when you put in the temp, it automatically reduces the temp by 25f. So the highest it will go is 475 even when 500 is selected. Odd as it sounds, the door handle has sharp edges. I called up my local homodepot and was told I can't return it. I asked if I'd be better off calling the state attorney generals office and the cunt hung up on me.
Anyone have any experience with getting a major store to accept an appliance return?

    Thanks

Just looked up their return policy for major appliances.

Looks like you're fucked, if it has been over 48 hours. Even then, it says only returns for defect.

My oven does that too, with convection turned on. I thought it was normal. Never bothered to check the user manual.

What is the return policy on your receipt/invoice? you should have at least some time to return if you are unsatisfied. unless it was a special order, which it sounds like it was. what is the policy for special orders?

    1. Call (or better, visit) the store you purchased from and speak only to the manager. No one else. If that doesn't work, threaten to call corporate
    2. Call corporate and speak only to a supervisor. Do not deal with the low level morons working the phones.
    3. Did you pay with a credit card (Visa/MC/Amex)? You may have some protection there if you can't get anywhere with HD.

25 lower is normal for convection. That's not a defect.

My range I just got rid of didn't do that. If I selected 400f, it didn't override me and change it to 375f. If you put your TV on channel 5, does the TV put it on channel 4 instead?

There wasn't much out there for this model. I did read as much as I could find, but it never dawned on me that an oven would override my desired temperature. The website said it was self cleaning. On other ranges they differentiated between self clean and "aquaclean".

Exactly. Go to the store with your receipt and ask to speak with the manager. Do not get mired up in the details of their return policy or anything else. The manager will take it back.
