it depends how much riding you plan to do.

i ride a lot, so i have a bunch of different shit. basics would be a helmet (always wear it), water bottles, an some sort of bike computer. i actually use a few different iphone apps instead of my bike computer now, so if you have a iphone or droid, get something like runkeeper (works great for cycling...it's free, gives distance, time, average mph, maps your ride, breaks it down by mile, an keeps track of everything on the website for you) or strava cycling.

i almost always ride with padded bike shorts or bibs, but that's because i tend to do more distance riding. when i ride to work i just wear shorts or pants. if you plan on doing any significant amount of riding (like over 20 miles daily), i'd get shorts.

padded gloves are great if you ride a lot and do distances. not necessary for shorter distances.

there's all sorts of stuff you can get, but just make sure you have the helmet an water bottle. you'll figure the rest oot after you ride a bit. no sense spending a fortune now on things you may never need. also, riding hurts when you first start. your ass will hurt an you'll be tempted to get a big padded seat. don't do that. your ass has to adjust and it will. your hands may go numb. that'll get better. if it happens all the time, then get the gloves. but push through that initial pain in the early days an you'll be a changed man. for realzies.

great bike. very happy for you.

keep it lubed up spokes and fittings on the less expensive bikes tend to rust. I have a Trek mountain bike about the same price and the spokes rusted out

check run keeper. just change the activity to cycling an you all set. register at their website and it tells you how many miles you ride each week, each month, your best week, best month, total miles ridden, best time, best distance, calories burned, etc. it's awesome and totally free. don't let the name fool you. it's an awesome bike app.
