While Bowie was recording "The Jean Genie" Sweet was in the studio doing "Blockbuster". Sweet heard a rumor Bowie was doing a song that sounded like what they were doing but they dismissed it. Sure enough a week or so before Blockbuster was released The Jean Genie was released. The guys in Sweet were horrified. I got a chance to meet Steve Priest of Sweet a few years ago and asked him about it. He didn't seem to have much of a problem with it - he saved his venom for Queen. Maybe the reason he wasn't upset about The Jean Genie was because Sweet ripped off the Yardbirds! Seems to be a few "similarities" with Sweet songs.
