Legendary Detroit news anchor, Bill Bonds, died from a heart attack at age 81. I always found him to be rather boring to listen to, but he was a notorious drunk and he had a meltdown that puts O'Reilly's to shame. He was the highest paid local anchor in the country. I wish I could find him arguing with former Detroit mayor Coleman Young. He once challenged him to a boxing match. :jj:

Howard related because Bill Bonds wore a bad wig as well.

That was good. Reminds me of the Chris Berman meltdowns. I never heard of the guy but find I hard to believe he was paid more than anchors in LA and NYC.
He must have really dominated his local market.

Loved watching Bill growing up. Legendary drunk. Would get hammered between the 5:00 and 11:00 pm broadcast. Would be flawless at 11:00. That's a pro.

I remember reading it in Playboy back in the mid to late 80's. They had a page with short blurbs on news anchors across the country and it was stated there that he was the highest paid. It was something like $1.2M/year. I was shocked. In 1986, 31 year old Detroit Tigers ace Jack Morris made $875k. Local anchors weren't making $1M/year back then. He must have owned the market.

I saw him at Tiger Stadium a few times. He was drinking and would always acknowledge fans. He definitely wasn't afraid of speaking his mind either. If you asked him his opinion about something, he wouldn't give you a PC answer. The irony is that he got a DUI on the same road his daughter would later die on after being hit by a drunk driver.

Our cable system in Western Canada used to carry all the Detroit American stations back in the 80's (prollly still do, but I'm out East now). I remember him & that fuck Coleman Young...he's got O'Reilly's frustration down...

Western Canada? Interesting. We get CBET (CBC) here thanks to our proximity to Ontario. Can't imagine why you'd get Detroit stations out west.

Little further west & you would get Seattle/Spokane channels. We would get WOR...WPIX...whatever Howard's Channel 9 show was on. It was probably cheap to buy rights to, or they were horrified ND stations were too much like our statons or something....

If I got my hands on a Playboy in the mid to late '80s, I'd sure as fuck not be reading any articles about news anchors.

Bond's meltdown was similar to O'Reilly in the first minute. "What does that mean."

Same type of thing. He didn't like what he had to read. Amazing how angry they got over it. so change a few lines and fix it. How hard can that be?

Get new issue, jack off to pics, put issue away for later use, take issue back out, jack off to pics I didn't look at earlier. Repeat until all pix have been ogled. Then flip through the rest of the magazine.

Yeah, but at least Bonds seemed to have fun with the whole thing while O'Reilly just comes off as a complete and utter asshole.

I used them until they no longer could be used! :jj:

It's funny the things we had to jack to before porn was easily accessible. I used to jack daily to Buck Rogers reruns. Showtime had the best soanking material. It was called Aerobicise. Whores with tons of 80's makeup and awesome camera angles. Crotch shots every few seconds.

The first time I jacked to actual completion was while watching The Tracy Ullman Show. Like you said, we had to use what we had.

I used to sport wood staring at my Olive Oil-looking junior high Spanish teacher. She was tall, skinny, and not very attractive, but if she wore a skirt I couldn't help but stare at her legs. Bell would ring and I wouldn't want to get up. Kids today have it far easier.
