Looks like 2 different areas
No gate in the top pic
Look at the brick pavers, they're the same.
Maybe the gate in the lower pic is a fire escape?
Someone is angry about no Saturday mail.
Outdoor dinning area for the restaurant.
Gate is street level
How long before Beth tweets something important?
I get that but where is in in the top pic?
or tweets a pic of her stupid cats
First one is from Google earth, probably last summer(leafs on the trees), the second one is from today and the restaurant put up a barrier for the marathon I think.
That gate might be something that was put there temporarily for the Marathon.
It is not a temp gate though. If it was we would not see it
I was thinking there might be a year in between images though, good point
I just google street view mapped 672 Boylston St in Boston. Its directly across the street from the Boston Public Library.
This is the same exact picture, see the Aveeda store on the far right of the screen?
Im suspecting the fencing or gated area in the aftermath photo is just a temporary barrier set up for the race and for officials.
Wouldn't the metal mailbox diffuse a lot of the explosion?
it probably increased the effect.
I'm no expert, but I would think it would create a lot of shrapnel.
Man I used to go to the marathon every year the weather was good. It's a state holiday in MA so we had the day off. 3rd bomb went off @ JFK library too
Actually the opposite happens, the pressure of the explosion is even greater and the metal makes for good shrapnel.
Which is why the NYPD removes all the mailboxes during their marathon and New Years Eve, why they didn't remove them in Boston is a mystery.
