The NBC thugs/suits must not be that enthusiastic about Jimmy Fallon. Jimmy needs to hire Helen Kushnick to plant a story in the NY Post.

Jay is smart to never take too much time off or permit a guest host that might develop into his potential successor.

Jay Leno's Contract Extended Past 2014, NBC Chairman Announces

According to several in attendance at the annual Television Critics Association 2013 winter press tour on Sunday, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt has confirmed that Jay Leno's "Tonight Show" contract has been extended beyond its original expiration date of 2014.

Wait. This is weird. Other than the guy's tweet that The Huffington Post linked to, I see no other story saying that Leno's contract was extended.

    Not on Google News...

Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide and many other publications were there, and they didn't report a contract extension.

    So I smell BS.

Jay is obviously jealous of Howard and Beth's love.

    Variety has this:

    http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118064233/

Greenblatt and alternative-latenight topper Paul Telegdy were quick to dismiss any speculation that Jimmy Fallon is the heir apparent to "The Tonight Show" franchise once Jay Leno steps away. Despite rumors to the contrary, Greenblatt said of transition talks: "We haven't (had any). We just extended Jay. It would be disingenuous to extend Jay and then talk about an extension plan (with Jimmy). All of those conversations are premature.

    AFTER FURTHER REVIEW:

I believe that the Huffington Post Tweeter must be confusing the NBC Exec's comment with the extension just signed by Leno after the pay cut situation.

Disingenuous? Yeah, something like that would never happen. Especially at NBC. :rolleye:
