Here we go again. The fact that the person drew a gun is not an issue for the protesters who threw fireworks at the police.

Since this took place at a Mobil gasoline station, there should be video of this incident.

On another note, the authorities just cannot let the dead body lie there for 2+ hours. These fuckers just do not learn.

At approximately 11:15 PM on December 23, 2014, a police officer with the City of Berkeley was conducting a routine business check at the Mobile Gas Station located at 6800 N. Hanley when he observed two male subjects on the side of the building.

The Berkeley Police Officer exited his vehicle and approached the subjects when one of the men pulled a handgun and pointed it at the officer. Fearing for his life, the Berkeley Officer fired several shots, striking the subject, fatally wounding him. The second subject fled the scene.

The Berkeley Police Department requested the St. Louis County Police Department's Crimes Against Persons Unit to handle the investigation. St. Louis County Police Detectives have recovered the deceased subject's handgun at the scene.

I also have to say that at least 1/3 of the police present are FAT. Totally overweight and couldn't chase down a suspect for anything. I thought there was some kind of requirement about weight on a police force.

Ok. I'm going back to bed.

It's not uncommon to leave bodies where they fell until the medical examiners are done with them. The police, especially the beat cops that did the shooting, have little say about this. The detectives of the case have some authority over this, but a. Have a protocol to adhere to and b. benefit from giving the me as much time as they need to gather all the evidence that they need.

That being said. This is usually why they put up police tape, position vehicles and set up a perimeter strategically designed to block off the view of rubber neck ers. The only reason I can give to rationaliE not doing this is to maintain transparency with the community.

Something tells me that If they completely blocked it off, the intelligent residents would scream cover up.

At some point, you just need to write off some people as assholes that will cause trouble wherever they are and whatever the circumstances. The pd should leave st Louis and let them protect themselves

What the fuck do these idiots expect the officers to do? Hope they get that Sheriff from Milwaukee, Dave Clarke, to address these idiots. Finally, someone with some sense.

In my neck of the woods, if you point a gun at a policeman, there's a good chance you're going to get shot. I would bet the "youth" had a long rap sheet and this wasn't his first encounter with the police.

There was tape put up and cars were in place to block the view, but it was done poorly. The LiveStream/UStream feeds got the body with a yellow tarp over it. Some people who showed up tore the police tape down and wore it like scarves and hats.

Then the kids Mother showed up. Then varying reports of who was with him. His girlfriend or an accomplice or both. A report of an officer shouting "I don't give a fuck what happened." Then she was crying. And she looks like a dude. Officer Klein. Protesters lit fireworks across the street, a fire started, but non rioting protesters put out the fire. Rioters threw bricks and water at police. The crowd was maced.

Protesters were screaming in the faces of police. At one point some of the crowd was chanting "shoot back, shoot back" and we know what kind of outcome that can produce. The crowd in general were not out of line. A lot of people stood back and just watched.

My fear is that some idiot is going to show up one night either armed under a coat, or with a bomb. More police and citizens hurt/killed/maimed. It's impossible at this point for the 2 sides to agree or come to an understanding.

An 18-year-old black man was shot and killed by police late on Tuesday at a gas station in a St. Louis suburb near where unarmed teen Michael Brown was killed by a white officer in August, police and local media said.

A video feed showed the gas station cordoned off by yellow tape and guarded by police, some in helmets and carrying riot shields, with bystanders shouting at them in a tense standoff.

The shooting of Brown in the summer, and the decision not to prosecute the officer involved, set off demonstrations across the country. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper reported that some 60 people had gathered at the scene of Tuesday's incident and that at least three were arrested.

Images and video footage showed a flash, a loud bang and smoke filling an area near the gas pumps, but it was not clear whether they were caused by bystanders or the police. Local broadcaster KSDK reported people hurled rocks and bricks toward police.

Police said the man who was killed had pointed a handgun at an officer who was conducting a "routine business check" and had approached two men outside the gas station after 11 p.m. (0500 GMT) in the suburb of Berkeley.

"Fearing for his life, the Berkeley Officer fired several shots, striking the subject, fatally wounding him," St. Louis County Police Department spokesman Brian Schellman said in a statement. The second man fled the scene.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch named the dead man as 18-year-old Antonio Martin, citing his mother, who said he was with his girlfriend around the time of the shooting.

"They won't tell me nothing. His girlfriend told me that the police was messing with him," the man's mother, Toni Martin, told a local broadcaster. "When he was trying to get up and run, they start shooting."

St. Louis County police recovered the deceased's man's handgun at the scene. The did not confirm his identity.

    LAPD INVESTIGATES SONG

Berkeley neighbours the suburb of Ferguson, where police officer Darren Wilson shot Michael Brown on Aug. 9, a killing that fueled criticism of the way police and the criminal justice system treat minority groups.

Protests in Ferguson have taken place for months and spilled over into violence when a grand jury decided not to charge Wilson.

Demonstrations in cities across the country gained in momentum when a New York grand jury decided not to charge police over the death of Eric Garner, a 43-year-old black man whom police tackled and put in a chokehold.

Before the latest incident, about 200 people marched in New York on Tuesday, defying Mayor Bill de Blasio's call for protests to be suspended after two police officers were killed in their patrol car on Saturday in an apparent revenge attack.

In Los Angeles, police said they would investigate whether any officers were involved in the singing of a song, at a party organized by a retired policeman, that poked fun at the Ferguson killing.

The lyrics of the song, on a video posted on entertainment news website TMZ, said: "Michael Brown learned a lesson about a messin' with a badass policeman."

Bump - threads need to be combined. Even though this probably has nothing to do with race, it will be another big story because of the race baiters.

Well, I guess it does have to do with race. It involves another Black person who did not comply with the officer's order and instead, pointed a gun at him. What a dumbshit.

More looting. Well, that's one way to get your Christmas "shopping" done.
All in the name of "justice."
