This is one of the main reasons I don't give a shit about the Tonys and I no longer rush to see every new musical anymore: Neither are worth the money: the Tonys are faked to benefit the show producers with higher ticket prices for no added value, and the new shows are dribble (saying they are drecht is too good for them because even drecht was once something worth paying money for).

Think those Broadway tickets are already too pricey? Just wait until tonight’s Tony Awards.

Last year’s best-of-Broadway winners saw their secondary market prices jump an average of 18 percent, says ScoreBig, an online ticket marketplace.

And for “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder,” which won best musical, that increase was 63 percent.

Tickets for “A Raisin in the Sun,” which counted best revival play among its three Tonys, appreciated even more — up 65 percent post-Tony.

ScoreBig tells Richard Morgan that when a show wins a Tony, more ticket-holders will resell their seats.

Indeed, after receiving their medallions, last year’s winners experienced a 192 percent increase in the quantity of tickets available for resale

It doesn't surprise me. Most Broadway musicals are lucky to make about 2-3 million during their run, the only exception being "The Lion King" which has made over a billion dollars so far.

So buying up a bunch of tickets to shows that are favorites to win Tonys is a great investment. :GL:

because it is possible to like both pussy and broadway.

have you seen the women in the musicals? many are hetero (or at least non-monogamously bi) and can crack walnuts with their thighs.

if you have a way to sell them that does not involve you paying someone else a cut.

no: you can see broadway performances for a little more than the cost of movie tickets in NYC now, but if you want to go Friday or Sat night and sit second row orchestra, expect to kick in a monthly car loan payment for your F250 per seat.

Some of them are worth it: if you get the opportunity to see Sutton Foster or Hugh Jackman you get way more than your money's worth. Every production either is in, is like an unannounced 1 man/woman musical & dance performance. They are the white Michael Jacksons of broadway.

I think that if you can buy up center orchestra seats in rows 1-10 for Book of Mormon you will do just as well. I don't recall how long that has been running but it still sells out at $300-$500 per seat.

I saw this revival a few times during it's run. The cast was as good (and the dancers were better) than when i first saw it in the early 1970s. Due to the modern sound system the orchestra was amazing.

I saw this scene in the theater so many times (because i know some of the production crew) and it became my favorite number when the mechanics broke during the previews and the producer made them stop in the middle, fix the platform and start over.
