Legendary rocker Bruce Springsteen reveals his recent and crippling battles with depression and the fear of falling victim to it like his father did

Legendary rockstar Bruce Springsteen has detailed his battles with depression in a soon-to-be released autobiography.
Springsteen, 66, explored his history with the mental illness and his father's fight against it in his upcoming book, Born To Run.
Speaking to Vanity Fair ahead of its release on September 27, New Jersey's favorite son spoke about his fear of falling victim to depression in the same way his father, Douglas, did before him.

'You don't know the illness's parameters,' he told the magazine.
'Can I get sick enough to where I become a lot more like my father than I thought I might?'

The interview goes on to cite paragraphs from Springsteen's memoir, revealing just how the illness has impacted his life in recent years.
'I was crushed between sixty and sixty-two, good for a year and out again from sixty-three to sixty-four,' the 66-year-old writes in his tell-all.

    'Not a good record.'
Springsteen released Wrecking Ball in 2012, an 11-track album featuring a song titled, This Depression.
And although his struggles may not have been noticeable to those on the outside, the star writes in his book about how his wife, Patti Scialfa, would see him at his worst.
'Patti will observe a freight train bearing down, loaded with nitroglycerin and running quickly out of track... she gets me to the doctors and says, "This man needs a pill",' he wrote.

Springsteen sat down for an extensive issue for the October edition of Vanity Fair (pictured)
Scialfa told Vanity Fair she did not enjoy that anecdote being included in the book, but added: 'I think it’s great for him to write about depression.'
In the book, Springsteen described himself as coming from a family with prominent mental health issues, although he says they went undiagnosed for the most part.
'As a child, it was simply mysterious, embarrassing and ordinary,' he writes about time spent with his relatives, according to the magazine.
He also detailed his troubled relationship with his father, who was unable to tell his son he loved him despite their relationship recovering to a degree prior to his death in 1998.

'The best you could get was, "Love you, Pops." [Switching to his father’s gruff voice.] "Eh, me, too",' he told Vanity Fair.
'Even after he had a stroke and he’d be crying, he’d still go, "Me, too." You’d hear his voice breaking up, but he couldn’t get out the words.'
Springsteen' autobiography, Born To Run, will be released internationally on September 27.

Who are happier Republicans or Democrats? Who are happier those that don't take politics so seriously or those that do?

I just can't comprehend how someone of his stature could be depressed.

He has a wife, loving kids (I assume) and enough 'fuck you' money to last 10 lifetimes that he really shouldn't have any cares or concerns in the entire world.

    I don't get it.

If practically every song the last twenty years is depressing about people losing their jobs, America is in the shitter etc how do you escape depression when it literally is your life
Write some happy songs for god sake you may feel better singing them then singing about a single mom or something
