Ok, so I finally got a chance to go out and see Speilberg's Lincoln today. I will first off start by saying this movie isn't for everyone. If you aren't very interested in history and can't stand a movie without action scenes and explosions or hot chicks you might want to pass. Me, on the other hand am very interested in the Civil war era and American history in general. The film does not focus on the whole life of Lincoln but instead focuses on the last few months of his life when he was trying to get the 13th Amendment to abolish slavery passed and bring an end to the civil war. Daniel Day Lewis does an amazing job playing the part of Lincoln and his acting really does steal the show. YOu really feel like you are being thrust back into history at times instead of just watching a movie about history. If he does not win an Oscar for this performance it would be shocking. Tommy Lee Jones also does a great part of playing PA congressmen Thaddeus Stephens. The movie can drag on a bit in the middle and really rushes the last few scenes focusing on Lincoln's death. I did however really enjoy the film and was engrossed in the movie even know you already know what happens based on history. I give this movie 4.5 out of 5 stars.
